Love Queen Mary’s diamond haloed ruby earrings (my favorite design). But I was disappointed not to see a crown on King Frederic and especially on Queen Mary. She certainly has earned it, not having been born a Royal. She IS Royal NOW. Just a Beautiful, Kind, Elegant, Classy, Sweet Royal LADY. Like everything in life: if you have EARNED them: enjoy them. Life is too short not to be happy with what God gives us. (I learned this late in life after working so hard.)

There's an even more significant detail about the ruby set: It used to belong to Queen Ingrid, being one of her favourite sets, and she gave it to King Frederik X, so that he could give it to his future bride. Queen Mary wore it for the first time shortly before the wedding. So, yeah... it holds great personal importance! Otoh, I'm not so sure the "wearing white for coronations" (or proclamations, as they're called in Denmark) has really been true historically in Denmark. Usually, it happens right after a death; Queen Margrethe definitely did not wear white at her proclamation; her father had just died!

What affair? Assumptions make ass' of people. We live in the 21. century and our Royal family has the right to have a private life. No images confirm an affair. It turns out that Queen Margrethe has planned her abdication since her back surgery and only few have been privy to that fact. There is no way that Frederik would cheat on Mary and there is no way she is going anywhere. Frederik has never replied to any media roamers, because as he says how can you.

Only the King or Queen get that title. They just drop the consort bit out of respect when referring to them. 😊

Or perhaps she just wore white because she knew she would be standing high up on a balcony against a dark grey granite building, with a crowd of 175,000 people, not all of whom were very close to the building? And she knew we wanted to be able to see her, so... White! And yes, she looks very pretty in the pictures, but the important thing was that all of us in the palace square that day and along the carriage route could see her clearly. (Sure, also her husband. I guess he was there too... But his dress uniform with the gold epaulettes and the white gloves made him visible from afar as well, and served much the same purpose as her white dress.) Anyway, she did good. And we all enjoyed a spot of royal stardust for that brief moment.
