Human babies are very much the same. They immediately know their mother from sound; smell; touch; affection; comfort; etc. Also, as a human baby cannot walk until his/her legs are ready...a baby dolphin cannot swim perfectly until his/her dorsal fin strengthens. So, the human baby, like, the dolphin baby, needs his/her mom for nursing; teaching; growing up; etc.

For other mammals, giving birth is generally not as painful as for a human. Because humans have such large heads, it is difficult for a baby to pass through the rather narrow hips. Other animals don't have this issue. For humans, it is a payoff between possible risk of death in childbirth, and a large brain volume. It sucks lmao. But hey, at least other mammals may not be in such a pain in comparison lol

So are those squeals just the dolphin equivalent of baby talk? Or does it also instantly know how to talk?

Congratulations Mama ❤️ I remember the feeling you would push and push and then it would go back and push and push and go back in it was so painful you handled it like a champ 🏆

2:27 Yes, dolphins have umbilical cords. Same with whales and porpoises. When they give birth, the umbilical cord connecting mother to baby breaks away and the baby is left with a belly button. For real.
