Jomboy single-handedly made the MLB interesting for non-baseball fans and young people in 2019. If I were a US cricket official I would be gunning hard to get onto the Jomboy Media podcast circuit quickly. Invite Jake and Jimmy to the grounds and give them full kits and a tour, and I promise Jomboy will put your league and/or team on the map. It's how to market sports in 2021/22, and it baffles me that these owners and PR teams are not more aware of that fact.

I love how Jomboy is so knowledgeable about baseball that he can understand advanced parts of cricket without even knowing much about the sport. Yes, when a batsman changes his stance before the ball is bowled, i.e. for the last ball of a game but also in other circumstances, the skilled bowlers are able to anticipate what the batsman will do and fire the ball in somewhere uncomfortable.

Heck, for every bowler/batsman there's a game within the game. I took 3/18 (albeit most of those were wides) off of 8 on Saturday whereas my team mates were getting smashed. As an Aussie that loves your channel that was the best American explanation of cricket I have heard. And you got it all right. The other thing to notice is that if the bowler bowls the ball to far away from the batter it is called a Wide, they get a run and then they have to rebowl the ball.

And just to add to that catch Jomboy, the catcher cannot be holding the ball and make contact with the boundary line or the ground outside it. If he comes down on or over the boundary, the catch doesn't count and six runs are scored, so not only does the fielder have to catch the ball, he has to be aware of where he is going to land, and if he sees he is not going to be able to stay the the field of play, he has to try to throw the ball infield to avoid the six being scored.

If your watching the BBL, root for the Brisbane Heat. They’re off to a bad start this year, but watching them last year was tons of fun.

Great breakdown. At 3:15 when you talked about batters moving around before the ball is pitched, main reason they do that is to get a little bit deeper back. Since they needed to basically hit a 6 to win, the batter wanted to be able to get some elevation on the ball. He was expecting the bowler (or pitcher) to get it as close to the toes as possible so the batter wouldnt be able to get under the ball and get any elevation. By talking a step back, it might give him an extra foot or so before the ball bounces to be able to get that elevation on his swing. Don't know if that makes sense but yeah.

Ive spent A LOT of time developing a game thats a blend of cricket and blitzball. Calling it Critzball. I'm not sure when we'll be able to play it. maybe February, maybe march but Ive got three pages of rule/gameplay with powerplay zones and the works haha.

Please do more cricket. There is so much quality content, so much history, so many narratives, and shit talking is a massive part of the game. Love the off season commentary!

It's an innings. I'm also just starting to learn about cricket too, and even a single innings is called an innings, not an inning. Cricket people seem to get upset if you don't put that S on there.

One-handed catches in cricket are *insane,* because not only are they bare-handed catches, the ball in cricket is both harder and heavier than a baseball. That was a *spectacular* defensive play.
