The exodus also illustrates the new life. Slavery to Egypt == Slavery to sin, Departure from Egypt == Repentance (departing from a life of sin), Crossing the sea == Water baptism.

Crossing the Jordan with Joshua is the figure of the real new birth. But the red sea is just a beginning of repentance (as John's baptism) but the read sea is not the new pact. In fact Moses is a figure of the first pact, but Joshua is the figure of Jesus and crossing the Jordan with the ark is a figure of the priesthood of the believers in a new pact. The conquer of the promise land is a figure of the christian life, but the desert with the snake is still a transition period. It's not yet the real new birth.

We need two baptisms - Water = Red Sea and Spirit = Jordan. The name Jordan means to descend. Like the Spirit descended 🙏

@@joshuamarran6966 Yes, but we cannot reduce "the new birth" simply to having received two baptisms; there are plenty of Christians who have received two baptisms but are not born of God. (Furthermore, the baptisms would really be "three in one", but that's another topic)... As you can see in the exodus, the jordan river was after they were under the "cloud" of the presence of God, figure of the Spirit, and after they drinked water from the rock, (figure of Christ) so we have to face "a process" of metamorphosis, including the experience of desert, to be fully born again.

Great illustration. As you were explaining that, I was thinking about how the Holy Spirit intercedes for us in our weakness, and because of how weak a new born is, that it cries out in the Spirit because it doesn't know anything else. That we must do the same in our weakness against darkness, cry out IN the Spirit.

another thing, I've been noticing childbirth is related to salvation of some kind. Not just childbirth, but the pangs of childbirth. It always seems to be associated with salvation and deliverance in scripture.
