Epic TV Indeed! Been watching vidoes about / doing calisthenics for 4+ years starting with HFK. The guys in this video are super interesting in terms of strength feats and creativity. I just played 3 1/2 hours of ultimate - intermittently sprinting hard the whole time. Got in the car, limped out of the car into the tub with the lap top. And now, I'm pondering whether I can go hit the bars. Calisthenics are awesome. We don't need to be as good as these guys (by all means go for it, if you can) but we can find fun ways to, over time and as we warm up, be much stronger than we would be if we didn't do calisthenics. I can human flag quite well now. Do some plyometric pull ups. Sometimes archer pull ups. Working on full tuck planche. Can half tuck lever, or single leg lever. Shoulder flag with one leg half tucked. Would love to bar muscle up, or do more full exercises, but it's awesome doing what I can. Watch this shit, but make it all about enjoying working out, progressing but setting incremental expectations (again go for the stars, if you can), but if that's not happening play with this shit and enjoy - always enjoy. I'm sure these guys do it because they love it.

Imagine if this became an official sport, and people took it to far FAR more extremes and it eventually became an Olympic sport....... Oh wait it happened already a hundred years ago, it's called Gymnastics
@Ansaro19 жыл бұрын
+galaxything Wow... Somebody actually did it.... Wow. Award to you!!! I rly thought noone cares or notices. Thanks man
@GlubWub9 жыл бұрын
+galaxything Calisthenics and bar gymnastics are very different from one another. Each focuses on different levels of agility, strength, and movement, meaning that one is not at a "far more extreme" form than the other.
@galaxything9 жыл бұрын
GlubWub are you shitting me lol dude calasthenics is literally basic 1940's gymnastics. The insane shit you see on the high bar at the Olympics is literally so hard that if you don't start learning it at 5 years old you have NO chance ever being able to do it. Anyone at any age can learn this calasthenics stuff. A 35 year old out of shape dude could be doing all that shit within 3 years of hard work. As for rings don't even start on the strength required for that lol.

@solimander19 жыл бұрын
+galaxything This is for the masses. It's free! And it's not so anal as gymnastics. It's creative and playful. That said, hat's off to fucking gymnasts and they can probably always show us more ways to progress, but fuck the distinction do whatever parts of either or both you like and obviously there's a lot of overlap. It's about humans moving and pushing their personal limits or pushing the boundaries of the sport.

Nice! a lot of impressive stuff here... although i have to say Idk if it's just me but i get a bit worried when i see the crowds watching, the large number of athletes, as well as some of the comments here... I see it's sort of become more and more of a fad and less of a movement and consequently less of a lifestyle. We've almost done too well, we've gotten the bodyweight/self mastery/calisthenics lifestyle out there to the world... but now with all the hype and poplurization by the media, i fear it might actually end up dying just like all great (fitness) concepts turned fads have in the past.. =( ..But idk I'd like to hear other trainers' thoughts on this if they're out here. =)

Slow but steady progression over time to do such things. Start by following a full body routine to build a strong foundation. Baristi workout has beginner & intermediate routines on his channel that are very good. I have been following the intermediate routine for 2 months now and it helped a lot. Good luck.

I wonder how many of them can read
@solimander19 жыл бұрын
+Mallorie Somerset Obviously you can't do shit athletically - just a guess. While recognized as terribly important by our society reading is (and I'm sure these guys can read) not nearly as impress or as valuable and positive a contribution to our society as this shit. Not sure how to monetize it so they can make money. Not to mention that most of said society never exercises and eats holiday like feasts for every meal.
@malloriesomerset50129 жыл бұрын
+Solomon Feinberg a bunch of overgrown pituitary cases pole dancing contributes to our society,that's brilliant you Muppet,if only bill gates, Thomas Jefferson,Einstein, Aristotle, and Euclid would have done more push ups we would have such an advanced society, wtf are you talking about
@solimander19 жыл бұрын
+Mallorie Somerset They're contributing by entertaining themselves and others and achieving a high level of fitness and inspiring others to do the same - all for Free! Showing others how to achieve fitness for free. It's pretty artistic, especially this competition and this video. I agree Euclid made tremendous contributions and so did some of these others, but just off the top of my head. Bill gates accumulated more wealth than he or the next 10 generations of his family could possibly spend, this seems more like taking. He's so saturated the market that he has to resell to existing customers without providing any value - you have to update your $500 software every couple of years, even if it still works otherwise, or you'll have incompatible files. I dunno, Einstein brought us the atomic bomb. I'm not saying these are the best contributors to our society, just that they're valuable. They're giving us an example of how to play and entertain ourselves, and care for ourselves physically, again for free, in a culture that only wants to take our money and could give a fuck about us. You know sell us something that supposedly or maybe will help us and quite often will just hurt us. Finally this is also a competition that is a ritualistic replacement that might be otherwise satisfied with more direct aggression. This is also a world wide sport that's connecting people in different countries. I think it's obvious that direct, especially military aggression is a problem.
@solimander19 жыл бұрын
+Solomon Feinberg Actually just rewatched - these guys might be under pressure to use performace enhancing gear, if this is their career, but I like to think they're generally clean and just bad ass. And this video is super entertaining and super inspirational. And do you think improving physical fitness might contribute to a society that is literally killing itself with being overweight and of which the majority never exercise. I dunno. I love this shit. And it's so damn positive. It looks like a big wave that would sweep up anyone who was interested and help carry them along.

@twistymcfistysback10 жыл бұрын
I respect the strength and some have good form, but its just bad gymnastics. The planches are pretty good he kips are horrible. Its just butchering the basics of gymnastics just like crossfit butchers every thing. If names like Arthur Zanetti were more common it would be harder to be impressed with vids like this and people wouldn't have to start off with shit form.
@BossCake8710 жыл бұрын
It's called street workout for a reason in the title and not gymnastics workout.
@twistymcfistysback10 жыл бұрын
So if you do dead lifts as a street workout the technique should be different? No. It doesn't matter where do you them, there is a right way and a wrong way regardless of your location or what you decide to call it.
@BossCake8710 жыл бұрын
But deadlifts can be done with different variations. Different grips, different leg stance, etc. There's always different variations of an exercise. There's no correct way of doing it as they are all valid (well mostly)
