Lava moving down in multiple streams and falls into Nátthagi valley at great speed. Fascinating lava show we witnessed today. I just returned from the 20th trip to the volcano with many exciting footages which I m going to share. The weather improved in the evening on June 5th and stopped to rain, that's why we decided to make a trip around 7 pm. It was worth it as always, despite being very windy in the highlands. On the way back it started to rain however and we got all wet but no regrets of going. Lava breached western wall and runs down at great speed. There is a massive lava flow into Syðri Meradalur (valley above Natthagi) and lava is spreading over that valley in big hot lake. Geldingadalur is overflooded with lava to the edges. I filmed everything as always. Peace and blessings to you!

Notice the area where it flows through that is partially covered, just how fast it flows when in less contact with the air. Imagine how fast it's flowing through the lava tubes underneath. Would love to see thermal imaging of the lava fields. Thanks and be safe, Kris.🇦🇺✌

That lava is running down what used to be a main water drainage channel. As a result - due to the rain - the lava is hissing away like an old steam train, and making almost as much steam too as it does so. 'Couldn't be better. :)

Yes, youre right! I was yelling at him in the last video when he said how hot it was, to get back and move away. When you have the volcanic gas mixed with the smoke from burning foliage, it's not going to be kind on the lungs nor respiratory system. I wish he would use a gas mask for the times when he gets close to the fumes.

You’re right. I would also prefer the herbal steam, but as a guest in UK, I experienced the smoky version. I’m not a medic, but boiling the moss for either inhaling or taking the tea is more sensible. Here in D, extractions of “Island Moos”can be bought even in sweets. Tasts nice.

What an incredible lava flow. I've been watching for the last several months as to how these lava flows form there tunnels or lava tubes. Which do make for some spooky caves to explore. And in lava tube exploration I've been fascinated by the Lavaicles or whats hanging like stalactites overhead in these lava caves. And thank you for you diligent photo journalism documenting this volcanic event. I've seen these formations forming for the very first time. Something that seldom seen. Back in the 1970s I was in one lava tube that had this immense cavern within the size of a huge auditorium. And up in the overhead you could actually see where crystal formations has formed. It was very beautiful to witness. I could only surmise that this was formed from the gasses coming from the minerals contained within these lava flows as they were slowly cooling down. So if you ever have a chance to visit a lava tube, take the walk, you'll be glad you did.
