It would be funny to have an “Gutn Tog volcano interview”😂 GT: “So Volcano, what was your childhood like? Any siblings? What did your parents do for a living?” Volcano: “Well I was a real hell raiser at a kid, never cared much for school, but loved physical education, running down hill etc. but I have a short temper so not good on team sports. I have several siblings, we stay in touch a lot, things really heat up when we get together, sometimes we have a blow up, but all in good fun. My parents were from Alaska and Italy, met about 5 million years ago.”

It's amazing to me how I see fluid dynamics play out where we normally don't think something would act like a fluid. Even gasses and solids obey fluid dynamics. Watch a video of a landslide and you can see the same physics at work as the solid dirt "flows" down.

You're right. I worry about the effect of the bad air/ gases also. It would not be good to breathe for anyone. PM 2.5 is also linked to volcanic activity, though not necessarily from heavy liquid lava flows but instead the ash.

People need to be extremely careful there now. This is becoming very similar to the Hawaii eruption of 2018. Those fast moving rivers can break out of their banks, posing a deadly threat to people too close to them like those in the video. People with less experience around lava need to be warned about this hazard. Thanks for the continuing beautiful and informative videos. This basaltic lava flows like water. When water overflows a dam, it compromises the integrity of the dam. When this lava began overflowing its earthen dam or wall, it began eroding it.
