I personally don't see how she made it past whatever round 'behind these hazel eyes' was vocally. vocally, the first 5 songs were uneven and so many others have been so much better from the get go. She is a beautiful girl and you could see her stage ability from songs 2 to 5 at least. Over You (where I am at now) definitely seems to be a turning point vocally for her and there seems to be less mistakes so far. fingers crossed it does indeed build from here as others seem to have alluded to. yashe did get better and better. i also thought, 'wow, she really went all in on that Avril Lavigne look' for 'I'm with you' and then I realized the reality. i guess this was one of Avril's first return performances since her illness. She looked so scared but she did great. The background singers ruined their bits as usual - I wish they would just stop. It never seems to work no matter who the singers are. the duet showed her to be a star and the finale version of Over You was perfect. Damn, she is the whole package. A great mentor/coach/manager can make a difference for sure.

I remember this season and it's funny looking back on it now because honestly, the show didn't hit its stride till Danielle Bradbury in season 4 or 5. Based on her performances up to hazal eyes she wouldn't have lasted in later seasons, she was far to pitchy up to that point but once she ditched the guitar and sang Miranda and Blake's song in memory of Blake's deceased Brother she was 1000% better. The first 3 seasons just don't hold up to peak voice seasons 4-9 and a few good ones since.
