Chloe Kohanski, who recently changed her name to ‘chloe mk’, always wanted to be a singer but after graduation, she decided to go to college to be an English teacher. Soon after, she realized that wasn't for her, so she quit school and started playing in a blues band. After the band stopped playing together, she decided to try her luck at the Blind Auditions. Those are all so good..Nice slip up on Roy Orbison's, but forgiven. Blake was so right about her maybe even little surprised how well she handled things. That type of voice is so very rare nowdays and can sing so well. Actually i might be on same page with Blake on this one on that Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart. I don't agree at all . She needs more dramatic songs .But that is the problem with the voice . Those coaches .Why was again the audition the best performance she gave ,Her voice has that mysterious " thing" that give it drama . Hé gives her Wicked Game , and the Light Blondie classic Call me . I would give her more Fleetwood Mac , Marianne Faithfull or Elvis Costello .Or even a soul ballad , but not all this sugar sweet stuff .Her voice is not sugar . I hear cigarettes and Whiskey .So in the finale I would have given her Amy Winehouse and I am sure it would have been the best performance on the Voice America .And if you wanna hear how it should have sounded .Listen to Creep from two 14 year old Girls: Pipp(y?.)and Josephine on The German Voice . Again " the Chain " waste only song fit for her great , great voice .And that is some compliment .Let's be honest , Debbie Harry has a jumpy happy voice that is perfect for Blondie songs .And Chris Isaac and Roy the big O Orbison are higher voices , while Chloe does better in darker , mooier songs .And from a country mogol like our friend I expected much better choices .But those clapper castleden probably hadn't heard it anyway .They hear one yelp and start screaming their heads off . Songs are really great as soon as it gets silent in the room . Then you know there's magic .If I could give an advice to future competitors .Choose a song that starts softly and builds up to a climax and if they do that right , maybe we'll be finally able to hear the songs in full .

@@ivanbottos7306 - I hear you. I felt the song choice given to her on the Voice was 'playing it safe'. I sense in her voice a female version of Tom Waits. He was all whisky not sugar. I do wish artists (contestants) were allowed to pick their own songs throughout the show rather than getting coaches to push their choices on them. Since you mentioned Creep - Check out Vincint's version of Creep and Brian Justin Crum's version of the same song. They are the two best versions of that song I have heard. Such a refreshing change from the high octave belting we’ve had as the standard for female voices for ages now. Chloe showcases how captivating a low, rich, female grittier voice is. Absolutely gorgeous tone to her voice. I really hope someone gets this young woman out there. I want to hear her album. I think she’s my favourite voice of any talent competition show ever.

This is for two reasons: she's a contralto which is generally quite rare and even rarer in pop music, although there are a few (e.g. Katy Perry, Pink, Alicia Keys and yes, Miley). Plus, the genres her voice works well with aren't that popular among young people = can't be marketed that well. Music lovers will love her, though.

@Alice Grace all those singers you mention are actually mezzo-sopranos, though they can do some low notes. Contralto singers are Lana del Rey, Lady Gaga, the two women from Fleetwood Mac. You can identify a contralto because they sound like men; for instance, Cher, Tracy Chapman and Nina Simone.

I kind of hate how female singers in these shows are appreciated if they can very high notes. Chloe has such unique voice and range that I don't understand how people don't go crazy with voices like this one. Contralto voices are so rich and hard to find.

Before 21:25, she’s just interpreting, and after 21:25, she puts some real passion in there coming from her own heart in a sensitive crescendo of intensity. It was as she created a bond at this particular moment. Most of her interpretations are amazing with a beautiful voice color, but on this specific song, she added a part of her heart.

Love her tone! Interesting her speaking voice is much more soprano-y at times. Sounds like she’s lowering her larynx to get that darker, huskier tone when singing. I have loved this girl from the 1st time she came out and sang this song. Her beautiful husky/scratchy voice is addictive. She can sing anything - and she makes me want to make requests for just about any song I can imagine her singing... which pretty well unlimited. Her last song - her own original; 'Wish I Didn't Love You' - is an instant classic and is now one of my all-time favorite songs ever.
