The virgin normal watch: "tick tick tick" The chad Minute Repeater: *"DING DING DING DONG"*

Hublot definately had the strongest sound, which fit with the watch as it looked very militarized. However, the Patek had a very angelic sound which really went well represented the brand

I remember being ill with flu back in 2019. I had spent a couple of days on the sofa watching my KZbin programmes of choice: engineering ... until I ran-out of engineer fields. Then I suddenly remembered watch-making. I didn't wear a watch at the time, but thought it might be interesting. This was one of the first programmes I watched. Six months later, had a sub. Today I feel genuinely missing something if I don't wear a nice watch. Amazing a little piece of engineering can just make me feel ... a little happier. So thank you for this video! It's one that started my journey.

The Patek wins, hands down. Obviously, it’s impossible to make an accurate assessment of volume over KZbin, but in terms of the quality of the sound and tonal richness, the PP has the clearest overtones and the most audible harmonics (the different frequencies/additional notes within the fundamental tone). It’s very easy to distinguish the duds in this line up because one hears the grinding ‘thwack’ of the metal against metal in only the less successful examples. The striking hammer does not adequately release (would be my guess) allowing the gong to ring freely, thereby deadening the sound from the outset. It is interesting that the Audemars Piguet has the prettiest and most refined sound, without the fullness of the PP. I can bet that, rather like the PP, although pretty, this would out ‘ring’ the more industrial thwacks of the Hublot et al. Also, I don’t mind admitting that the PP is by far the most beautiful watch. It may be called a woman’s watch but I would certainly wear it with pride. The others look like overgilded lillies drowning in skeletonised dials and superfluous tourbillons.

Last week, I had the chance to see and hear the Credor Spring Drive Minute Repeater. Even if there were a lot of people at the event, the mic on my camera was able to pick the beautiful major third interval that this masterpiece was producing. Such a beauty. Truly a once in a lifetime experience to be able to see a minute repeater in the metal! My pick would be the sound on the Patek Philippe (I actually like the sound of the first chime better than the second one) and the notes of the Hublot. Thanks for this comparison!

@rohanmanepalli11874 жыл бұрын
There are 3 different sounds: the first chime indicates the number of hours, the second type of chime indicates the quarter-hours (15 mins), and the last chime indicates the minutes. the Christophe claret had 10 first chimes, so the hour is 10. There were 3 second chimes, so 3 quarter hours have passed (45 mins). And there were 13 third chimes, so 13 minutes passed. so the time would read Hour: 10 Quarters: 3 Minutes: 13 Time: 1058

Of course the Patek was heads above the rest with its sweet, little tone...but surprisingly, Hublot gave the best overall performance. I was taken aback by Hublot's tone... and it's resonance held unbelievable sustain. Hats off also to Louis Vuitton though...as they made a strong showing in this contest !!! ps. Even though I'm in a Cartier phase in my watch collecting now, I must say I was both pleased and dismayed by their entry. While it started out with a pleasant tone, that was quickly overshadowed by "dead fall" strikes by the hammers. I hope that this may only be an anomaly to that particular watch and not the entire line.

Robert I I do I word this... You have know Ideal of what a true time piece is. The movement and accuracy of telling time is amazing in it's self let alone being able to stay accurate without losing no more than a second a day let alone one week. And for that matter over the course of one year. Seiko has become a master of accuracy. The last true innovation in watch making happens to be by Seiko. Spring Drive brings together old watch making with modern Technology. They brought down the old garb of watch makers to the point now they live only in the Luxury segment. 5 of this or 20 of that. Outside of rehashing old movements Seiko has pushed the limits. There are but so many complications to build. Style yes I'll give you that point. Other than that..... Yeah from IWC to Rolex to who ever they haven't done anything to push the limits of the art of telling Time. Their show pieces period. Owners don't even wear them. Only on winders locked up. The real builders of watch making are the private companies limited making of 5-10 a year. Their the ones who left the big houses and are building true limited works of art. And they are no more accurate than the big houses. Seiko's movement is truly amazing. Adding gold or silver or platinum doesn't make a great time piece.
