Marcelo, the content you put out is truly unequalled. Your channel has rapidly become my favorite in the community. The quality, form, and context absolutely can not be beat. There's always at least one thing in your videos that I haven't heard anyone else talk about and I always learn something new without feeling like I'm being "taught". You are one of a kind, my friend. My most recent "oud-quisition" was Pure OUDdiction from The Gate Fragrances. VERY green, herbal, bitter sweet oud scent. Reminds me bit of Black Afgano but everything is just turned up a notch, and more green and bitter than it is dark spicy. I definitely think it is one you would appreciate. Thank you so much and keep up the impeccable work, brother. Take care!

Having grown up on a farm, I’m not sure if your description of “barnyard” and “fecal” matches mine because those smells are not how I want to smell or smell on others. However, I love the smells of the woods, the grasses, florals, and gardens that accompany the farm so I am intrigued by oud but have yet to explore this particular note.
@TheNicheFragranceCollector4 ай бұрын
Yep, you heard right 😳 To fully appreciate the full power of a banyard oud; check out Hayat by Xerjoff or even better Ghala by Jazeel🤯 And yes, it does seem counter intuitive to use a perfume that has that kind of olfactory signature but it's wild, in time you really get to appreciate the power and beauty because it's more than just a 'real farm' but has these incredible layers and complexity. Plus what's in the air is something different to what you're smelling directly off your skin. I would recommend to you Oud Satin Mood and Bois D'Oud from this line up. Both have enough 'oud' so you get to appreciate this note but are now balanced with other components that make will make it into an experience that you'll enjoy. Thanks for jumping into the conversation Mande, awesome to connect 💫

Great video as always Marcelo! Really amazing hearing you talk about the history of Oud. I'm familiar with its history in India and hindu writings, but terrific learning about how it's prevalent in all ancient cultures. I love all types of Oud, but I defintely agree with you, getting used to the more fecal types of oud took some time. I still cannot really tolerate much banyard ouds (like Kemi Hayat), but I love all other types of oud now. If you get the chance I really recommend the try the following ouds, I think you'd love them! (1) Qurashi Blend from Abdul Al-Qurashi (2) Fortuna from Electimuss (3) Desert Falcon Luxury Edition from Arabian Oud

Thanks James👊🏽 Glad you enjoyed this episode. I always love doing the research and trying to find a different angle and discovered how prevalent 'oud' is across various religions (clearly signifying it's sacred magnificence) that it was fun exploring this theme. I too haven't totally graduated into the 'full on' oud (like Hayat) but I guess all in time. Thanks for these recommendations! These are all ones that I will need to explore when I'm overseas (unfortunately for us Aussie's we have very limited brands); but all good as it gives me an exciting 'hunting list' to go and explore💫 Thanks for jumping into the conversation @JamesBond-qt7th always good to hear from you

Saludos Amigo. I love oud fragrances, but I'm not crazy about the usual Rose and Oud combos. I adventured into the Oud-only predominant fragrances, such as Kemi ilm, Xerjoff Gao, or animals like Dehn Al Oudh Saad; and Oud Attars. Nevertheless, I've been looking to own a Rose Oud frag that leans masculine. Is MFK Oud Satin Mood, the one that you are talking about, the one shown in your video, which is the EDP, or EDP Extrait? By the way, I see you are getting close to those 80K subscribers.
@TheNicheFragranceCollector4 ай бұрын
Hola Gabriel, saludos amigo💫 I'm slowly moving towards the more beastly animalics when it comes to oud and one thing that I recently purchased is a sample set of the Amouage Attars. The Oud in here is powerful!💥 But I've been blending it with the Rose or Vanilla attar and oh mamma 🥰 these combo's have been insanely good. I need to explore more with the attars; I think this is the next evolution on my niche journey. Regarding Rose/Oud; have you tried More Than Words? This is a much more wearable oud, but still very present. I would recommend it if you haven't already tried. In regards to Oud Satin Mood; this is the EDP. I haven't compared the EDP to the Extrait, so not sure how they differ And yes! Very close to the 80K🤩 Really hunting the 100K😬...I have some further line up episodes coming up as I know that these always track well; trying to get this before mid year!!⚡️ As always, thank you for your support Gabriel👊🏽🙏🏽

Nice one. Top notch video. I only love mucho western ouds - Oud Wood, Carved Oud, Accord Oud... and subtle ouds concealed in other lesser known composition (such as Marly Shagya, Villoresi Theseus and many more). Oud usually goes hand in hand with rose, which I hate (can't stand prominent rose). Tried MFC, didn't love it. It's a nice scent, but not enough to satisfy my taste. It is SO personal. I do appreciate your list. Thanks for the video.

It always mystified me when Fragrance Reviewers would qualify their reviews by attesting that their reviewed fragrance is approachable and absent any of the traditional Oud traits: barnyard, fecal , medicinal, etcetera. I'll echo what's been said, here. You're always so pedagogical and fascinating to listen to! What you said about Sacro e Profano reminds me a lot of the sadly misunderstood Amouage's King Blue, in that the pyramid is flipped upside down: people hate it because of that harsh oud opening but then it turns very fruity and citrusy afterwards. Both are fantastic fragrances, for sure.
@TheNicheFragranceCollector4 ай бұрын
I need to test out King Blue. Funny because I did hear a lot of negative comments because of that harsh opening that I stayed away. I will give this one a go and report in! Great to hear from you @sorv5790👊🏽

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector The mistake people do with King Blue is bring it right up to their nose. The moment it "clicked" with me is when I sprayed on strip and left the room and came back 15 minutes later and the aroma was incredible in the air. That's when I "got it". :)

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector the perfume is strong and dark, i feel like an evil rich man dressed in a dark suit when i wear it. elegant and properly masculine with a hint of rose and raspberry. It really is a work of art to me. The first time I smelled it in the store, I thought, what is this? wet loose tobacco leaves..No, this is probably not for me, so I bought imagination instead.. The following days I sat and pondered what I smelled in the shop, there was something special about the strong smell. Then went back to the store, tricked me a spray on the chest. Found out quickly that I just had to have it. So it is used at Christmas parties and when I go out on the town in the evening. and the beauty of it is that one spray is enough.

Thanks Marcelo for reassuring! Also imagining which movie character would wear this. I can think of The Hulk. He is beastly and does not care about others when he does Hulk things, extremely confident, but underneath as Bruce Banner, he is sophisticated (Multiple Phd.s) and a tender heart. Hello, Marcelo. I like this lineup and early today I also watched the vanilla one that was posted in late 2023. But during that video I got tired of your descriptions for every fragrance. My biggest problems with your reviews is the overuse of words such as "glorious", "component" and "fragrance". Your explanation are decent but you constantly struggle to complete them with precise words but can't find them. The other problems that I have are not that significant,but when it comes to your strong elements of your videos (the setup, the audio quality, the camera work, your great tone) together they create a professional general image and then it is subverted your lackluster wording. I hope you'll find my issue reasonable and in the future we won't have any kind of difficulties with each other. With respect, Ovidiu (Chris) Pop.

Great to connect Chris and it's awesome that I finally get to know your name! So much better than using the YT handle. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts and yes, the endeavour is to always improve. I purposely read industry magazine's (like NEZ) to expand my vocabulary and the ability to share creatively the feelings that these fragrance's evoke in me, so that it's easier for the audience to understand and resonate with. The balance to all of this is my desire to express myself sincerely and from my heart. I never prepare a script. I always create loose, bullet point notes. I want the moment to take me > spray > smell > fall in love > share As I smell the fragrance, I want my emotions to govern the dialogue and not my mind. The 3rd element to all of this, is the 'human' and regardless of how much we train, practise, and prepare....when the moment arrives, in the words of the great Gattuso: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKGUlH57n5KNqq8 As I mentioned, I am appreciative for you taking the time to help me become better. Change is slow; so whilst I would love to become an incredible orator instantly, the reality is that it's going to take me another 10 years (being optimistic).
