Proberbly did this but did you check the fan unit for any scraping of the fan on the shroud. Smallest amount can down power. It can then self clear and power picks up. Unlikely cause but worth a poke around. 👍

I flew mine today for the first time. Flew well, then I did a nice landing and the shaft for the nose wheel bent. So I'm going to remove the U/C and hand launch. I'll glue a couple of bits of sandpaper to the top of the fuselage for grip and get the servo covers. Thanks for the tip.

That's unfortunate. I can't say I've had any rough landings with mine, so I haven't really tested the durability of the landing gear. However, I have seen footage of others doing some pretty bad landings and on rough terrain with little to no damage, so I'm hoping yours was just a fluke. In any case, once you fly it without the gear, I doubt you'll ever put it back on. 😉

Thanks for video. Maidened mine couple of days ago, and four more flights yesterday. I love wheel take offs from rough grass, but would like to try wheels off as well. Just ordered servo covers for arrows marlin....hope they fit. Love this plane, now my favorite 64mm edf.

Seems like you enjoy it a lot more now, nice that it has a boost in performance without the gear

Hi, thanks for the great review. Any chance you coud share the 3d print files for the additions you have made?

Nice. What type of device are you using to measure the speed?

I'm using the SKYRC GNSS GPS Unit.

very nice. can you share the config/print file for the little plastic piece you added under the nose ? and if you already have the designed the servo covers

Out of stock in the UK now - REALLY wish I'd got one earlier 😓

I've been told they will be including servo horn covers in future shipments for belly landings due to this video, so don't be too sad, you're likely to get an updated version when they come back in stock. 😉

@@aussiercairspace Ah that's great news mate, I'm happier now 😁 Happy flying!

Thanks for the video and posting all your speeds, that will helpful. Mine should be arriving Fedex this afternoon. I watched this video right after you posted it, and was going to offer you a file for 3d printing the servo covers, but reading one of you current posts if see you got that covered. Have you tried one of the high voltage batteries in it yet? I ordered yesterday a SMC racing 2800 HV 4.35v pack to run in it. It will be interesting to see if the numbers go up a bit.
@aussiercairspace5 ай бұрын
I haven't tried a HV pack in mine yet, but I'm waiting on a couple of other batteries I recently ordered and will see how they go. Not that I need more speed, but if it goes faster, I won't be complaining. 😁 Thanks for stopping by and the kind words.

Try Arrows Hobby Marlin servo covers. Cheap and cheerful.
@aussiercairspace6 ай бұрын
A friend of mine has the Marlin and it doesn't have servo horn covers... Maybe the covers have been added to the Marlin recently? In any case, I've already designed and printed covers for the Viper since I did this video, and I also made some grips for hand launching. 😁 I'm yet to install them on the plane, but I'll get it done in the next couple of days.

@@aussiercairspace maybe so. I bought a few from local hobby shop.part number ARRAH112. Only £3.50 a pair. Come in clear. I'm waiting for good weather here for my Viper maiden. Cheers 🍻

Nah, haven't done RC Carnage in a few years now. Did have plans to start again, but the gang has moved on and they either don't have the cars to race or the time to race them. And we also don't have a place to race them, so it's unlikely it will ever return.

I got my Viper in last week and it flys great with easy handling but its slow. I have 4 of the Zee 2200 packs and I am only pulling 37amps, and with a brand new ( 2 flights) SMC HV 2800, 4.35v pack I am only pulling 39 amps and around 85mph, which is overall lower than what you were getting at the beginning of your testing. Did you ever figure out why you had a increase in power? Thanks
@aussiercairspace5 ай бұрын
No, the increased power remains a mystery... But it's very interesting that you seem to have the same issue I had. There is one thing that shouldn't make any difference whatsoever but if you can be bothered, give it a try. Because I swapped ESCs and then plugged the original ESC back in, it's possible that I may have plugged the 3 wires from ESC into the EDF in a different sequence. If you're up for it, try swapping the wires around and run the test again. Make sure you calibrate the ESC again when you do this and see if the results change.
@Blademan015 ай бұрын
@@aussiercairspace Thanks for your reply. While checking it out yesterday, I figured it would recalibrate the ESC first before trying to unplug the motors wires as you suggested, then I realized it will not actually go into the calibration mode with the stick in the full up position. It will only give me the standard tones for arming, 6 beeps for the cell count the high low. I had other club members also take a look at it yesterday, and it was a no go, I will have to contact HK. However, it was recommended I try and go into the servo travel menu on the transmitter and increase the servo travel to 150% , and I did, and I got 2 more amps out of it to now 39amps.
