The main reason you dont want to be in that crystal cave in mexico without a cooling suit is also because your lungs end up being the coolest place in the cave and the water in the air starts to condense inside your lungs and you slowly start to drown

Hi! Mexican here, and i actually had enter the Cave of Crystals once in 2009. It was through a special permit for an international event that i was working as staff tho. They only let you enter to the "window" that is a kinda the door of the cave, and is behind an actual wind to protect the area from the rest of the world and protect you from the heat, the heat is really a thing, in only 30s of being there you start sweating buckets like never you had before, also, a warning, most of phone cameras get fogged because any humidity gets condensed in any glass or cold surfaces so... not good for trying to take good picures of the crystals inside...

There's a really cool balancing rock in Atlantic Canada where it looks like if the wind blew too hard, it would topple into the ocean! It had stood for 150 million years, withstanding everything Nature could throw at it... but two rednecks was all it took to end it :( In their video, they were cheering and high-fiving and just overflowing with joy at their accomplishment.... but that glee didn't last long enough to reach the trial tho, where they were ultimately fined thousands of dollars each.

I remember hearing a story about death in the crystal caves. I think he drowned while breathing air. I can’t remember how it went, but there was tragedy of the “we told you not to go in there” sort.

The chromatic springs in yellowstone park are due to rubish being thrown in and causing the bacteria growing as a result. The "water" is primarily hot (nearly boiling) slurpheric acid, which the park rangers will readily tell you about. You might want to mention the "rubbish/trash" aspect of the feature. Yes, I've been there, that's how I know.

Whoever told you that is flat-out wrong. Virtually nothing that lives on ordinary domestic rubbish could survive in Grand Prismatic Spring. The colours are all produced by bacteria that use those specific pigments in photosynthesis; that also means they have no need for external food sources. And the bacteria have all had to evolve to be specifically adapted to the extreme heat, which doesn't happen in ordinary environments

One can see these basalt columns in eastern Washington, too. A geology professor I watch on YT even dropped his hammer between two of them! A long time later, someone got a strong magnet, lowered it down and retrieved it for him. The guy said there was nothing but dry sand at the base of the columns!
