My uncle, Dick Anderson, was the mechanic on an E-type roaster that was a serious race car on the West Coast. It was red with gold trim, a low plexiglass windshield, and lots of air ducting to cool the brakes, etc. The Jaguar factory in England sent him motors that were specially built for racing to help the Jaguar independents race in America. Coming out of turn one (1/4 mile drag strip) at Star Dust Raceway in Los Vegas in the 1960s in screamed past two B production Corvettes.
