The big advantage is that it gives you a big boost in buoyancy which gets you up faster. Don't hold your breath, in fact you can exhale all the way up, it's kinda freaky but the air just keeps coming as you go up.

Royal Navy did escapes down to 603 feet inJuly 1987 from HMS Otus in Oos, a small town and Fjord in Norway about 25 miles north of Bergen. When you are in a single escape tower it is calibrated to flood and equalise in a maximum of 24 seconds. This is based on how long the body can be under pressure at 600ft. he world record set in 1987 was completed by WO. Norman Cook MBE and PO. Hamish Jones BEM

same suits as we use here in the UK there German made and cost £4500 and there has to be enough for all the crew plus 110% so no expense spared, they are designed for use up to 200mtrs but can go to 260mtrs since the air for hood inflation is 28bar it's quite amazing I did my yearly escape training yesterday

With all our technology, I can’t believe they can not just build individual emergency escape pods that will just jet them right up and float like a boat providing them with protection, food and water

Russian submarines have an escape pod for the crew. It’s built into the sail and detaches completely from the main hull but I don’t think it’s ever been successfully used.

Back in the 50's we went through a hundred foot tank using the go and blow method. No mask, no suit. Just make sure the bubbles keep going up. All this other stuff is there to make people feel good about the chances of escape. At 800 feet the chances are nil. However if my sub had ever sank in 800 feet of water I would have tried it. Dying is forever.
@hoghogwild
@hoghogwild 5 жыл бұрын
The suit actually gives you more positive buoyancy and an air supply enabling recovery from a greater depth, 2 things that are absent from the go & blow method. Then once topside the suit provides protection against hypothermia and provides you with a raft to climb into. Regardless, there is a huge psychological component to this training and the suit. The suit ascends at a rate of up to 3 meters/second, an escape from 180 meters is a full 60 second ride. That would be a long 1 minute, 590 foot ride. Question: In the 100ft tank you trained in, when you were in the bottom chamber and it was filled with water, was there any sense of increased pressure when they equalized the chamber before opening the door? thanks

Not staying at increased pressure for long enough. Go from normal pressure in sub to normal pressure at surface. Air compressed in lungs at exit stage from sub but not time for that gas to be dispersed through blood stream.

I enjoyed getting to do this as part of my submarine training. It only works if you go down in shallow water. If you sink in deep water the pressure will go up as you go down until it crushes the hull. No escaping that.

Another pretender. Everything you said is bullshit and the only way you are a submariner is in Africa. I am pretty positive you are still living with your parents and constantly pretend you are something you are not for a few mins of fame. The British invented this suit and tested it in the open ocean at 600ft in the 50's and 60's, not a controlled environment. I happen to be a submariner and have heard of modern testing @700+. So if the suit can only support up to 250 psi, that means in order to escape, you have to leave the submarine before it goes past a depth of about 570 ft or 175 m.

Over 99% of the time, submarines at sea cruise in depths of water well in excess of 183 meters. The escape equipment is a fairy tale. Now, the Russians have break-away escape compartments capable of housing the entire crew in an emergency ... provided the sunken sub lands upright and isn't twisted too badly to release one of those.

so wait the suit can protect you from 250 psi of pressure,250 psi is at about 550 feet of water,but the submarine is designed to dive at around 800 feet,so the thing is if the submarine is deeper than 550 feet and an accident occurs the crew has absolutely no chance of escape in my opinion,if this is not the case then some one with appropriate knowledge please explain me why

Does it has any special feature, or it is just to make you float? How does it help you to resist the pressure? I mean, is it just like a ballon?
@extraordinaaron
@extraordinaaron 8 жыл бұрын
its is pressurized, helping reduce the pressure a sailor experiences, which is also why it floats. However I do believe that the sailors would need quick rescue and medical assistance because they can still be affected by the rapid changes in pressure. This is a last resort device to be used in the face of death. Most subs are equipped with a submersible rescue vehicle that the crew can board in an emergency which has the ability to help the crew with decompression. So unless there is a big hole in the sub, they hopefully won't have to use these suits.

The problem is not water pressure, the problem is air pressure. When the pressure decreases on your way up, the oxygen and nitrogen expand inside your body, and that can cause a lot of problems. So as long as you don't ascent to fast or hold your breath, you should be fine.
@burt591

The KZbin Account But the suit is basically the same as if you were inside a ballon, right? Based on the explanation from the video it would work the same. Basically as long as you don't hold your breath you are ok. Or is it something else?
@Bglielmi
@Bglielmi 8 жыл бұрын
the part they wont tell you is before you escape.. the doc will intentionally rupture your ear drum with a needle if deep enough which would be likely. The only reason I can think of using the seie suit would be if a sub sank in less than 600 feet of water and landed on the bottom on its side at say 45 degrees or greater something that a rescue vehicle couldn't work with.

Can't they just make escape submarines in a submarine. Like a steel pod or something that launches to the surface?
@mpkp2011

You would have people working on opposite sides of the sub getting to the escape zone at very different times though, and the mini sub could jettison away before everyone was on board. There's a lot more maintenance that would be necessary and an overall larger chance for an issue to occur compared to these handy little suits that everyone on board has an opportunity to use.

Hello and happy day: I inform you: The submarine Aras San Juan of Argentina was sunk on 11/15/2017 at 7:30 am by another Chinese submarine that was in espionage work and the Aras San Juan was pierced by Chinese submarine firing torpedoes at them and could not dodge it. The sinking of Russia's oscar-class submarine K-141 Kursk is the best known and remembered to date and was sunk on 08/12/2000 by another Russian submarine as they wanted to desert their crew and request political asylum and of course the Russian submarine K-141 KURS was refloated some time later but did not have a happy ending like the submarine in the movie The Hunt for Red October made and filmed in Hollywood and starring actors Thomas Sean Connery and Alexander Rae "Alec" Baldwin III. The American nuclear-powered submarines and all loaded with several missiles with nuclear warheads or warheads each of them, which are: 1) USS Thresher "SSN-593" and loaded with missiles with nuclear warheads and on April 10, 1963 wrecked or sunk, 2) The submarine USS Scorpion "SSN589" and sank on May 21, 1968. Other submarines of the Soviet Union with nuclear propulsion and loaded with missiles with nuclear warhead or warhead and these are apart from the K-141 Kurs previously commented, the following: 1) The submarine K-27 project 645 and sunk in 1979, 2) Submarine K-8 November class was sunk on April 12, 1970 and is the greatest radioactive threat in the world, 3) Submarine K- 129 with diesel-electric propulsion but loaded with nuclear weapons and sank on March 8, 1968, 4) Submarine K-278 Komsomolets and was sunk on April 7, 1989, 5) November class submarine K-159 and was sunk on August 30, 2003. Aviation accidents loaded with nuclear weapons just to mention a few are: 1) In 1958 a B-47 bomber collided with an F-86 jet in the vicinity of Tybes Island, Georgia USA, the nuclear-charged bomb weighed 3,000 Kg and never was found, 2) In 1968 a USAF B-52 bomber crashed with 4 nuclear bombs on board the material explosive was detonated; the nuclear components had been deactivated by the crew and only 3 of them were recovered. And the most remembered; 3) Occurred on 03/08/2014 due to the alleged error of the impact of an Iranian missile "as the guy on the 8th of the Mexican comic program would say * It was unintentionally wanting *" that he blew up MALAYSIA Airlines flight 370 MH370 / MAS370 that it was not carrying any nuclear bomb load but it was full of passengers with pure international scientists who were going to give a conference and news about the vaccine and cure of some cancer and AIDS "as I affirm or confess on 06/16/2020 Donald John Trump President of the USA ”and they were also going to warn of the possible pandemic such as the covid-19. The transatlantic ship RMS Titanic did not sink as a result of the collision with an iceberg but by a torpedo fired by a German submarine that was on espionage. In the world today in the 21st century there are more than 130 lost or lost bombs, nuclear or atomic warhead missiles and this loss is due to the sinking or destruction of ships, airplanes, or submarines around the world. In this world things or events do NOT happen by mere chance but by a true cause and effect that will never tell us their truth and if they will always distort it. And all my scientific technical information is sustainable or verifiable either by google or youtube on the Internet. And as my saying or phrase says: "Between the sky, the earth and the bottom of the ocean, neither aliens are hidden since the use of the Internet was allowed into the public domain".
