I remember the HPI kit but never heard of the other one. Both look super cool and a wonderful addition to the collection!

Its got to be said, some RC's just really are a work of art & engineering! two stunning examples here. What a great guy to donate these too. 😎

Fun Fact, Tamiya racing drivers ditched the TA03 in 1998-1999 because it wasn’t a purpose built race chassis, had short suspension arms which made it drive erratically and had complicated gear boxes. So they designed an “all-new” chassis for racing which was the TRF414.. a copy of the 1995 HPI RS4

That HPI looks like a RS4 pro from '96 or '97 with a few home-made mods like those extra front diagonal links. Those were some of the best shocks in the business. Many parts of that car were shared with the nitro version. I never raced that one, but I raced the Pro-2 in '98. It was very similar but reliability was improved with beefier suspension arms. All HPI's handled well on low grip tracks with stock power.

These diagonal links where part of the Pro 1 kit, I own a Pro 1 chassis and it has these links as well. Sadly the spurgear mount is missing a part. The Purple spur gear came with a metal purple washer to lock bearing balls inside the spurgear this will give an extra push to the drive train during throttle down, via Centrifugal force. It's awsome to see a vintage Pro 1 in pristine condition. Congrats to Glenn

Glenn, Kawada is Japanese. HPI is Taiwan. Kawada was one of the premiere TC manufacturers in Japan and used to be among the top alongside TRF, Kyosho Speed House and Yokomo Teams. Don’t know where they are today but I don’t think they produce chassis like they used to. As for HPI, they went bankrupt about a decade ago and the current owners are slowly reviving the brand and even reproducing some of the old body sets again which is making a lot of people in the drifting community very happy. Anyway Glenn, I’m happy that you’re happy.

Kawada was well known for it's touring cars, i think they have other models and brushed motors, but a Kawada catalogue might give more info. HPI always nice to see a Touring car from that brand, i myself have the RS4 rally and i have it for many many years, i will never sell it, i had so much fun with it, it's a keeper. a few years ago i had a HPI D4 4wd offroad cat with all the bling on.

I'm a buggy nut, but found a TRF415MSX for $50usd !! I love it and have bought a Senna body which I want to leave the black bits unpainted so I can see the bling of the chassis underneath.

Wow class gear Glenn l can't believe the generosity! I have to say double thumbs up to Joseph what a great dude! I must admit l am not really into the on road stuff as l am all about the off road but l never under appropriate or overlook on road class kit and all the carbon and bling on these are certainly class! I love the belt drive set ups too just so tidy! Just super cool stuff! Great to see you mate and your passion for this wonderful hobby of ours! Cheers James.

The motor plate on my HPI Rally (I'm certain it's the HPI upgrade unit and may still have the carded part number around) is a clear anodized piece, but I seem to remember BOTH of these on offer for at least a couple of years back in the late 90's or early Naughties.

Hi Glenn nice to see you back ! Don't think I could continue in the hobby without your videos and enthusiasm, Am sure those turnbuckles on the front aren't standard I've got the rally and the pro was pictured in the manual it was some years ago but definitely sure they are an after mod.

Simply beautiful. And you don’t need to lower them. They already slammed. Shame they will never run but I’ve no doubt you have something similar to run and sacrifice. I couldn’t bring myself to scratch them lol

Stunning cars 🤩 Heard of Kawada, raced a 1/12 Kawada M300 which I think was late 80's, but never knew they made 1/10. Awesome 👍

Just like to say thanks, between you and RC icons I've started to build a collection up. Have a TRF 415 in good cond with acto power motor, the Hobao H4 after watching your vid and a few others... Long way to go before its a large collection... Prob about 10 so far. Don't worry about hitting the wall. Im sure it will come back to you at some point soon!

Now you need to get some other not-so-well-known-manufacturer cars to go with the SV-10, like Tech Racing, Alex Racing, Team Atlas, Ova etc. And of course Kyosho TF series cars.

Wow, 2 gorgeous touring car chassis' you've got there! I have heard of Kawada, and I vaguely remember the SV-10, and I definitely remember the HPI RS4! Also, please don't put dish wheels on those cars, it'll ruin the 'retro' look I think. Awesome stuff!!
