In the system of Shaolin Kung Fu that I practice we have a very similar form -- White Crane Spins the Legs, I believe. While the two forms are not exactly the same, there's no doubt in my mind that they have the same origin (although I suppose that's obvious, considering they both have roots in Shaolin), as I can see the same sense behind each move in one as in the other. Awesome video!

Perry B shaolin is the origin of most martial art systems in the world. It has spread to japan in 13th century. Many actual forms are made of impressive fancy moves, which are very nice to watch, but have lost their internal power.

I think you have a unique style, which has incorporated elements of various forms, and I do not doubt its effectiveness but.........you try and pass it off as the authentic style. The beginning form of White Crane does not resemble anything you have demonstrated. Both the Shaolin and Fukien salutations are different. White Crane ' s beginning form is all handwork so I am a bit surprised to see high spinning kicks.

Obviously, you do not know what you are talking about, if you are "someone who is developing there own style/system". You are just as ignorant as Jake, the Fraud Mace. The creators of the Authentic techniques were Scholars of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Musculo-skeletal systems of the body. They understood the Physical Body as a whole, and the Authentic techniques are configured around their expertise in their Traditional Medical fields. So you need to stop "developing" your own BS and find a real Teacher to learn the real thing. Because FAKE cannot be functional.

After viewing this video I have sum things: 1: even if wat he is teaching isn't a concrete white crane, it's good exercise. 2: even if this isn't white crane, ther is still sum truth to it. Cz wether from readin or learnin from a master as I said ther is a element of truth n any trainin is trainin wether good or bad u can still use it. 3: this guy really knos how to explain the moves to make them easy to learn. Usually people Js do it, n barely explain the way he does. 4: 60% or the people commentin think they kno concrete white crane. Anything thts really passed Down is like the telephone game. 5: great video. After many attempts I learned it, I may b bashed bt i will figure wat I wanna use it for in my routine. 6: the guy is wobbley which I question how long he has been doin this. Cz masterin this; u shouldn't b unbalanced like tht. 7: good day n thanks 8: I kno nothin of styles n understand tht I can't say much bt I do understand enough to make valid points.

Practice every form on both sides.... once you can do the form exactly like Jake does it in the video, go back and do everything "backwards." For example, at 3:25 you see a right, then left sidekick; when practicing the form "on the other side," this would become a left sidekick followed by a right sidekick.

No, this is nothing like shaolin Crane, not of the sistem, not from the 5 animals. In fact, this is not kung fu at all, its the missinterpretation of someone how has seen some of the style in a movie and tried to emulate them. Kung Fu, is a way of life, it centers in the flow of the body to create strenght. I dont know of any northern kung fu style that takes 2 or 3 moves in a fixated position, that doesnt move trough the Dan Tien, and that stands in a one legged stance (Du Li Bu) to kick 2 or 3 times. Sadly, this is not kung fu

It's fascinating to see what techniques and principles someone in the past thought were worth passing down through time, but also rather disappointing when they are so tactically weak. Clearly some parts of this kata have merit - the press, flick combos, or the side kicks, for instance, and other moves merit serious consideration simply to see what principles they may be trying to impart, but other sequences make me wonder if they have EVER been used in actual combat.
@matbroomfield
@matbroomfield 10 жыл бұрын
Efraim Godah What are you basing that accusation upon please?
@matbroomfield
@matbroomfield 10 жыл бұрын
Efraim Godah So the fact that he oversells his videos and pronounces "kata" differently to you is a sign of dishonesty? What about the number of styles Jackie Chan was proficient in by his 20s - loads, including weapons. One of my former instructors was a black belt in wado, jujitsu, kenjutsu, and a range of kobudo weapons by his early 20s. Say what you like about Jake, but he moves purposefully, and he has competence in a wide variety of weapons. Whether that's all just dancing, or actual martial competence, I can't say, but regardless of where he's acquired his knowledge (or made it up), he appears to have genuine tactical understanding and he interacts with other people in a martial way. So it may not be authentic white crane that follows a lineage of teachers, but if he understands the applications, and can perform them as a white crane stylist would, so what? I just hear no end of sour grapes from people who are not one tenth the MA Jake is, and people on Bullshido are the lowest of the low. Small minded, self appointed guardians of the martial arts world.
@matbroomfield
@matbroomfield 10 жыл бұрын
Efraim Godah Bullshido was mentioned in the link you provided. But this is exactly what I'm talking about. I'm quite willing to concede that Jake may not be practicing traditional chinese martial arts in the sense of having learned from a confirmed lineage (and I wouldn't know enough about the art to recognise if it was or wasn't), but simply to say "a legit TCMA teacher would NEVER use s JAPANESE term like that" is a massive blanket statement. He might be using the term because he also does karate. He might be using it to communicate with a European audience. But you're right - when it comes to Chinese martial arts, I do have no clue on the subject. Looking at what he's doing, he appears to have done the work, but I can't judge whether he's effective or not. Even if it were karate, which I know something about, it would be hard to judge, given his athleticism and the confidence of his moves, if he was "genuine" or not. But I do get irritated when other people hold themselves up as judge and jury in such matters. That said, thanks for your thoughts Efraim.

Jake has taken to shitting the bed. His so called White Crane is utter shit. His Praying Mantis was even worse if you can believe that. He was fine with Tai Chi and has some good stuff up on it. However, he seems to have spun out of control and now brands himself as a skilled MA in multiple MA systems that he has no clue about whatsoever.
@kovenmaitreya7184
@kovenmaitreya7184 6 жыл бұрын
@The Contractor I looked up some of his Tai chi a while ago... Even though I've only had a small amount of instruction in that art, his videos on it were pretty bad imo. It seemed like he just saw or read a book and made a bunch of assumptions about what the movements were supposed to be like and what the applications were. With less than 2 months cumulative instruction, I was also able to tell his forms and movement were wayyyy off. It's weird for me to say because I never use this terminology, but his movements didn't hold the spirit of Tai chi. I guess it's like a new person at karate throwing a roundhouse vs a black belt throwing one.

Herowebcomics the low stances as show on this video are used for stretching, or for showing off, they are ineffective when it comes to fighting system. This is gymnastic kungfu, this is not real kungfu. To practice real kungfu, specialy a south shaolin style like the white crane, you dont need (and it is better not to) go that low on your stances.
@robs9980
@robs9980 8 жыл бұрын
+Kellerson Gaël If you have balance, could you tell me why being able to evade at any angle (extremely low is an angle) is bad? The "real" Kung fu that you learned might be different than the "real" Kung Fu someone else has learned. For example, I do Karate. My first style was Shotokan (from Funakoshi). I did about 2 years of Goju-Ryu and I'm currently in Seidokan (a form of Shorin-ryu created by the late master Shian Toma). Martial Arts are liquid. You can adapt what works for you and as long as it's practical and there is a meaning to your moves, there is no harm. Another example is my Stepfather who started with Chinese Kenpo, moved to shotokan, then Taekwando, and now BJJ. You don't think his take on Martial Arts and his methods would be different than if he'd just studied one style his whole life?
@kellersongael8868
@kellersongael8868 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, different schools train in different ways. When you follow the lineage though, at some point, most of them link to the same sources. Some people have done a big work to get back to these sources, in order to find the schools that have been the most faithfull to the lineage. It surely is a subjective point of view when I say "real kung fu", nethertheless, it is backed with some facts, some historical and some practical. If you are sensible to chi (qi) training, you will notice clearly that you can gather much more qi in your dantien (ara) when your legs are not too low. Also, when the knees are bent too much, it is a risk to damage them (unless you have strong knees, which is a good thing to have) and you loose much power and flow of chi. Because it is hard to find a real master (there is hundreds of so called masters), yes I think it is a good thing to visit different styles, to pick in each of them what suits us. I think we all have our own style to developp and the best way to do so is to keep open minded. If someone finds a real master though, which ever style it may be, he will developp his style whithout having the need to look somewhere else. I haven't had this chance, but it happenend to some people around me. What I believe above all : our best teacher, is ourselves.
