Please watch: "Killer Whales In The WILD - TOP 28 Orca Encounters"
• Killer Whales In The W... -~-
Taylor and her sisters are at the orangutan exhibit at the Louisville Zoo in Louisville, Kentucky. One of the orangutans, named Amber, keeps pointing at Taylor's bag while she tries to figure out what the orangutan wants. She holds her purse closer to the window and unzips it and starts taking some of the items out. The orangutan peers inside the bag while continuing to point. Finally, Taylor pulls out a bag of fruit snacks and the orangutan looks satisfied. The orangutan points at the gummy and points at the chain link fence to communicate to Taylor to pass the snack through the fence.

That's pretty true of all the great apes. There is a great deal of cross over between our gestures and theirs. Like the classic "hold out your hand to ask for something" gesture. I've seen it in chimps and orangutans both, and even in some monkeys. But chimpanzees especially have a very complex pseudo-language of gestures. It's pretty cool to watch. They also, incidentally, make little spears and kill bush babies with them (not all; tool use among chimps is passed down via demonstration and imitation, so local populations have their own tool making and using techniques).

@@Ryusennin Right. Many are left orphaned due to palm oil production when their mother is killed. Also some are improperly held captive in homes for show or used as a servant to the families who keep them. When families can no longer manage, care etc for, they leave the orangutans out for others as prey. Or they continue to abuse them. Similar to the orangutan that was beat to death in the smokey the bandit movies.

So, the orangutans do enjoy the attention they get from people.

Also , they get to watch all the Strange Specimens of homosapiens we all are and study our captivity in Human Society such as it is. Would be nice if human beings could learn to take care of their own friends and families and fellow creatures we all are in all our different and same groupings. The orangutans probably feel we are more endangered than they are . If reincarnation is true and required of us. I hope I could come back as an Orangutan living in a Humane protected Sanctuary. @King of Everything not all are, but the majority absolutely are caged just for our amusement. And I will always despise any non-conservation, for profit zoos, which is what the vast majority of zoos are. Animals don't deserve to be caged and gawked at for no reason. In the case of conservation there is a genuinely good reason they are captive, but don't act like that is the majority of zoos, or even the situation for most zoo animals. We both know damn well that the majority of animals shouldn't be there, and are there simply for profit, not for the animals wellbeing, or the species.
