Quarantine v isolation. Quarantine basically refers to keeping a 'healthy' person (for the time being) away from society who has just been exposed to an infection. It's not sure whether the person has got the infection or not. It is as long as the maximum incubation period of that particular disease. Isolation is done when it is sure that the person has caught the infection and is sure enough that the patient will infect others when come in others contact. One can say, a healthy person goes for quarantine while a patient moves for isolation.
