IND Queens Blvd Line: R160 (E) and (F) Trains Begin/End at Jamaica - 179 St

In my opinion the R should be extended to 179th st and the F run express from 71st ave to Jamaica 179th

They already tried that in 1988 and it didn’t work. A better way to do it would be to make 179th Street a second terminal station for E trains. Kind of like how A trains have two different southern terminals (Far Rockaway and Lefferts Boulevard). Have the E trains that start/end at 179th Street run fully express to Queens Plaza in both directions and F trains can run express from 71st Avenue to 21st Street in both directions. This way, customers at local stations east of 71st Avenue still have express service and riders at 179th Street & Parsons Boulevard have direct express service because as of right now, despite being express stations, 179th Street and Parsons Boulevard don’t have any direct express service other than limited rush hour trains. I feel like it would be so much better than only having a few E trains run to and from 179th Street during rush hours. Just make it a second terminal for E trains (maybe except for late nights). Just a thought, but having R trains run fully local from 179th Street to Queens Plaza already has been tried and it didn’t work.

Good idea, but that would involve more congestion at 179th and the R is already long as it is, extending it to 179th would piss the crews off prob

​@christiangarc7327 The E can't use 179th Street as a secondary terminal because Jamaica Center, Sutphin/Archer and Jamaica Van Wyck would be stuck with 7tph. If only the F still served the 53rd Street tunnel...

I remember one time when an F train pulling in to start service, there was still a sleeping passenger on missed by the conductor or security.

They're strict at 179th, I'm surprised that happened. Relays at 71st Continental for the Romeo people sometimes get left on without any worries

@@FuseguyisCool I remember years back before the Jamaica/Parsons branch existed, some E and F trains would layover on the express tracks overnight and weekends between 169st and Union Tpk.
