I’m a BYU fan through and through but have been very disappointed by the arrogant elitism shown by many BYU fans, especially the sense that they were snubbed by exclusion from NY6 bowl. They should have remembered one of the key lessons from 2020, that to simply play the game of football is a gift that should never be taken for granted. Don’t think that was foremost on their minds as they prepared for this game. When coaches are publicly concerned about the energy level at practices three days before the bowl game you know there’s a problem. Sadly BYU has a history of underperforming in games like this. All credit to UAB: solid game plan well executed. They took advantage of the mistakes BYU gave them (missed tackles, poor passing plays, and that fourth quarter turnover), executed well, took advantage of BYUs soft defense, and certainly seemed more motivated to win. Great win for UAB. What coach Clark has done there the last few years is nothing short of remarkable. I wonder how this ranks for UAB in terms of best program wins?

Huge cougar fan here and I agree with you 100%. With all the good that Sitake has brought to the program, I’ve heard, from friends in the locker room, that the one thing they’ve lacked is mental strength. Hopefully we all can learn from this loss, and come back swinging next year💪🏻

Went to the game, great effort in horrible conditions by both teams, don't agree with fumble call, but BYU's secondary did not tackle well or cover on pass defense very well either....great game plan by UAB coaching staff...

As a die hard Utah fan, and a fan of CFB.. I was rooting for BYU. They got outmatched. Tough loss. Congrats to UAB. A little humility goes a long way (talking to my fellow Utes fans). Remember BYU spanked us, with or without Cam Rising. Rose Bowl is gonna be all out war. BYU had a great season, and are tough.. UAB was definitely the better team that day. We are transferring to the american athletic conference next season. We got a massive stadium and huge U of Alabama funding for our athletics and huge government funding for our medical programs everyone stays sleeping on UAB while we THRIVE

Dang Zone and rushing 3 gives opposing QBs all day to throw into holes in a zone D. Did blitz and send more rushing lineman more often, but hope way more next year. Hope we learn to contain and tackle better. Not get burned deep. But BYU has to blitz QBs more, and mix up number to rush QB, So they are nervous, and out of rhythm...I Like Head Coach but bit casual on what he said in interview. " We just hope everybody plays to their potential, and what ever outcome I can live with" good I guess, but someone who is paid a million give ir take needs a more aggressive view and set expectation. It was a good game with mistakes made by both sides. That's how football works. Anything can happen. A great game for both running backs. BYU made many mistakes in the secondary and UAB took advantage. Yes it probably should have gone to OT or BYU won 34 to 31 but... refs aren't perfect. There are always controversial calls in football and BYU happened to get that lower end of that with that "Fumble". It was a great game by both teams with the weather they had. And I'm a fan of CFB and UAB I can assure you that BYU fans would not have treated y'all like this if they had won. So don't be treating BYU like this. one of the best teams in CFB and they will only get better. Not a fake ranked team they deserved rank 13. UAB needs to chill and be more humble with the win. All of you trashing BYU in the comments its truly sad the this is what you choose to do with your time. Grow up and be better sports. Most people target BYU for there religion which is sad. Anyone can believe anything they want. I have a Mormon friend who tells me all the time that BYU would be recognized as the great football school they were if it wasn't for people that hate on the Mormons for no reason. BYU Mega Donor WARREN JEFFS enraged with BYU loss to UAB. JEFFS attended the game with his 18 wives, and was seen confronting Sitaki after the game. UAB who lost their football program in 2014 due to lack of funding, was able to get program reinstated in 2018. byu plays 2 JUCO teams next year. W Virginia, Iowa St and Oklahoma St leaving BIG12.
