You know what's really stupid? We find out later that they also reverse-engineered the aliens' energy shield technology...and put it on a truck instead of on their actual important bases.
@bobshanery5152
@bobshanery5152 3 жыл бұрын
@@averyvaliant The fact we could just magically "reverse engineer" alien technology like that is nothing else but absurd. It has not been that long between the last war and we are already flying in space, using shields and alien guns (Around 20 years we did all this?). We would more likely still be trying to rebuild from the last invasion and not reverse engineering alien technology. The war from the first one would of wiped out most of the population by either the aliens themselves or the destruction to natural resources they did. Really was looking forward to this movie but its a D rated movie at best.

@@bobshanery5152 you not really right. They had no time to destroy natural resources since their attack was not nuclear neither radioactive. In the end instead,they left 27 destroyed ships on the earth's surface, all waiting to be srapped, so TONS of NEW materials instead. Also if you know such monsters exist,you would really hurry up to reverse engineer. Wich is much easier than invent. 20 years is definitely possible, under the appropriate conditions... lets say 1000 teams of scentist for each of the techonologies, would succed within that time. @@armorpro573 a: plot convenience (the likely answer) b: powering things is not free, especially not when you're powering something covering a 3000 mile wide space ship, and thus they would only power it when necessary, by this point not only are they probably close enough to earth to have been able to send scouts to determine if our tech rivaled theirs, which it still didn't, but they are also ripping apart the moon as they travel past it, and the moon is both earth's closest off-planet base but also clearly visible from earth, meaning that the people of earth are most likely fully aware that something is almost upon them by this point, making the cloaking tech fairly pointless (the more logical answer) especially when you consider that the whole point of their journey to earth is to harvest the core for energy, so they're not gonna waste energy on something if it isn't worth it

considering that the last blast they did didn't even make it through the ship's shields, i'm guessing the synchronised countdown was on the assumption that none of them would make it through if they fired individually, so they planned to all hit the same point at the same time to try and break through the shield... of course, that didn't work because the countdown was too slow, but if that's the logic then it was definitely a good idea

A metalic ship 3000+miles/km doesn't matter is heavier than Moon, massive Iron nickel (they mine entire earth size planet cores!) First by scratching with their shield the Moon that will be displaced from orbit in opposite direction, maybe toward Earth since ship came from outer Moon orbit tangently? Second on landing such a mass on Earth also perturbed Earth allot around its axis , rotation around axis, inclination, and general orbit around Sun (either sending it closer to Sun or further away Kaput clima for life in hours!). Third that atmospheric burn is at least equivalent to an Yelowstone eruption if not more so again Nuclear winter 1000years...

That ship is a ship, meaning it's 90-95% empty space by volume. If you were to compress that down into a solid mass it may be the size of a 20 mile wide sphere. It in no way has more mass than the moon, which is a SOLID rock. If you made the moon 90% empty space by volume it would be many times larger than Earth. So this ship should never have a gravitational pull greater than Earth or the moon.

Even though people say that the movie is bad, to me I really didn’t care tbh. To me it was like: “Oh wow big lasers, sci fi weapons, aliens, ships, big explosions.” Am I weird for liking the movie because of this?

This movie stank on ice. The filmmakers (Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, et al) tried to cram too much into a two-hour movie. A feature like this, it should have been at least three hours long. And what's this crap about making Dr. Okun into a gay character? That didn't happen in the original movie. No wonder INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE crapped out at the box office.

Like all Emmerich films the dialogue and script are terrible. The special effects are pretty much the only vehicle and the special effects are pretty special.

@@shealupkes I'm gay and I agree with you, but I have to say Mr. Tarwater sounds a bit homophobic? Also what was the thing in the first movie with all the glorified usage of the cigars. Is that really something they should be teaching all the young kids watching these movies? Don't we have enough people already dead from lung cancer?

Putting the plotholes and cheesy script aside, the overall design and cinematography of this sequel is extremely underwhelming compared to the original. The sound effects are not nearly as bombastic and natural sounding, like explosions, they are all just polished futuristic "plows" and "phwews" 0:34 3:03 The scale of this spaceship, which is supposed to be dozens of times bigger than the original mothership, is not apparent cause you only have clean, polished close ups, without the revealing shots of the original film like the entire mothership against the infinite space backdrop or like the revealing ground views of the city destroyers with atmospheric haze. ALSO, the design of the original mothership itself emphasized its size and nature, cause it looked like a planetary hemisphere with two legs, so it is like a planet but there is something artificial about it. The saucer designed meanwhile was meant to emphasize the relation of the city destroyers with the ground, as they rotate to be parallel to it. Here, they chose to use the saucer design for the mothership, massively upscaled to look like a cancer on the Earth, even though the idea of "drilling" could mean that they use a vertical drill-like design instead, plus they try to hype it with all these Transformer parts like the crab legs, going look "oooooh, look how CGI has progressed, we make complex moving robot models that are all clinky clonky!". Personally, I don't care. I don't want the goddamn crab legs. Make it a stiff object like the original. And finally, like all blockbuster films in the 2010s, it is TOO FUCKING DARK.

Yes, this is CGI'd out of any truth or reality whatever, and is just a pastiche. The original movie was not like that. Also David Arnold's music for the first film was really high quality, with gravitas, and at times quite moving.
