I too noticed the USA flag on your T and wondered, WTF but then I looked up Taylor Shellfish Farm and it's on Chuckanut Dr, WA & I thought "what a clever guy". What a great hack for going through US Customs and Border Control. You never cease to amaze me. BTW Taylor is affiliated with Fanny Bay Oysters here on the Island. Just sayin' . Oh and RBC advisers loose their sh*t every time I go in and insist on a GIC and I brush off their sales pitch for their mutual funds. Stopping them mid sentence because they make zero fees on GICs but are required to offer them. 😁. Keep being Awesome Rhys.

I’ve been a Royal Bank customer for 40 years and have just recently moved most of my/our deposits and investments elsewhere. Daily banking is now being done at a credit union. We just walked in the other day and bought a GIC. No appointment. Wow. You have to wait days just to open an account at a chartered bank. The bank made many times more than I ever did on my deposits over the years. I’m done and wish I had the common sense to get out sooner.

When I think back on the YEARS I wasted with RBC and the crazy fees they charged, I just cringe. Just gotta ride out this mortgage term and then it is goodbye forever.

This week the personal "advisor" at our bank told us that you couldn't open a RRIF before you turn 71. And that you couldn't open a RRIF without having an RRSP first.

When people complain about high service charges at banks I always respond with "don't get mad, get even". With a puzzled look on their face, they ask me what I mean. If you own bank shares, you'll receive big fat juicy dividends, You will never complain about high service costs or fees again. I own shares of almost all the major Canadian banks, including National Bank which has been a stellar performer over the last 5 years.

Taylor Shellfish Farm. It's about an hour's drive south of Vancouver. Maybe Reece is based out of Vancouver or Richmond, BC
