Hello, I have been following you for a while and I do love your work that you have done for us! I have two people in mind: one is a recruitment consultant who works for a recruitment agent that recruited me in previous job. The other works for one of my brokers (I work for insurance company). We have only worked together on our client but we are not colleagues. Which category would they come under, objective or subjective?

Hi Fiona, I'm sorry but i am not that familiar sith your field or profile. Sometimes the line between subjective and objective is a fine one and it depends how you frame it. If you think it qualifies under independent recommendation be sure to introduce them in the letter at such explaining what exactly is the relationship and how they know you

Hi Oscar! First off, great channel-you don't need to help people, but you're choosing to :) I'm looking to begin the EB-2 (NIW) process and wondering if you have some attorney recommendations? Context if that helps with specific recommendations: I'm from the UK and have a Masters from there. I think most valuable is an attorney who knows best how to illustrate national interest for my case, since I'm not a scientist, pilot, etc. My experience is primarily in copywriting/marketing in fintech, influencer marketing, and web3. Hi Tom, unfortunately I do not have recommendations because I did not use lawyers but did it myself. Recently I interviewed two people who used attorneys and shared their firms. One of them used Colombo and Hurd and the other one used Dina Ibrahim Attorney at Law Elsharnoby & Associates PC. I hope it helps - good luck in your petition. Thanks. LinkedIn recommendations, it depends, if they are specific and provide details, yes, but I would not frame them as recommendation letters (instead I would ask the person to sign a full letter, and that's a great opportunity to include more details). Clients, yes, they can provide letters

Can one’s client act as an independent recommender? Eg; I used to work with a pharmaceutical company and the VP there saw me contribute significantly which helped both their mission and ours. Thanks in advance.

Yo no aporté un plan profesional aparte si no que lo fui describiendo en la cover letter, pero depende del perfil y de lo que prefieras hacer, puedes optar por una o otra. En mi curso lo explico . Saludos!

Anyone in the field . The applicant may have connections in their field of endeavor, people who do not work directly with them. Connections are not exclusive to the academic world . People attend conferences, professional workshops, seminars, courses...where they build their network. Additionally, people have colleagues with a network too. Just some ideas.

Hi that’s really amazing. I just want to know 1) my phD thesis evaluator be a my independent recommender? He may comment about my phD work and high impact paper i publish through my phD work. 2) I am head of department of electrical engineering, All our program must be accredited from Pakistan engineering council,and every year evaluation team visit our department and check weather we are fulfilling all the criteria/ standard set by pec. Hi Javel, the first one does not sound like an independent one to ne. They are certainly valuable recommendation letters to include in your petition, but I would look a little bit beyond your circle or professional relationships to find an independent recommender. The second one could be considereded independent, or at least semi-independenent. I would like to have at least two more that are truly independent if I were you.

For most professionals, this is hardly easy to be obtained, specially because even when you work on your own country, most employers or clients will always look for someone known to them or their circle.

It's not easy but it's important . In life many important things are also not easy 😉

@@OscarsGreenCard indeed! Sadly, what I mean is that as a professional you always work on a circle of acquiatances, so hardly someone on the industry doesn't know you. The difference with scientists is that thorough paper publishing and seminars lectures you get your work to be known by others: that's the purpose of research (even if it doesn't bears fruits!). For professionals, is all the opposite: most of the time is related to every project where you have been. Interesting subject, nonetheless.

@ yes, I agree . Instead on people that absolutely don't know you I would put the stress on "people who haven't worked with you" and that opens up the possibilities. What USCIS is looking for is someone that is not our manager, subordinate, colleague gives a strong and detailed recommendation. Of course, if they absolutely don't know you, it's better . But I can tell you that my independent recommenders explained in their letters that they have met me (in a conference or a professional lunch), but that we didn't have a close working relationship that would bias the. I think that's the key

I am applying for my wife who is a medical doctor, has masters in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and also a Phd from University of Adelaide Australia (Breast Cancer was her research thesis). She has loads of teaching experience also. I believe that chances of her approval are higher than mine as I just have a Masters degree and teaching and business experience.
