Though many have not heard of it, Odoo is one of the leading ERP systems for small- and mid-size businesses. This open source ERP solution can be a good alternative to NetSuite, Quickbooks, and other systems that focus on smaller organizations. This video provides an objective and unbiased overview of the strengths and weaknesses of this emerging solution.

Odoo consultant and developer here. Great video, I am definitely following you going forward! From a developers perspective, Odoo is also really fun and easy to work with, even just as a hobby project for many. This causes a large amount of innovation when it comes creating modules for various business flows, and the vast python libraries within AI and automation allows us to easily implement the newest technology into our clients business processes. If anyone has some questions regarding the software, or would like some dev or functional tips, you are welcome to reach out. I can also set up a test db for anyone interested.

Thanks for making this video Eric. I have a mid sized organisation, but with multiple locations. I have been using Odoo for a trial period of almost 15 days with its maximum modules including Social marketing and Project Management. I agree that its highly flexible, but can you elaborate more on how it wont sustain in a steep growth curve of a company? Thanks for your help.

Dear Eric, thanks for your video. I don’t know what kind of expertise you have with Odoo but your analyses are quite good. We are a Belgian gold partner of #odoo. We have customers where their turnovers are more than 200M euros and Odoo works really well for them. Our customers use Odoo for everything from e-commerce to manufacturing and using accounting for multi companies ( more than 15 ). If you want some information on implementation about Odoo , I’d like to support you. And by the way, we also integrate SAP...

Hi, I'm a business analyst from Belgium (Ghent) looking for a way to get into the ERP scene and more specifically Odoo. What do you look for in a business analyst to implement Odoo? What's more important, business knowledge or affinity for IT? If you could give your input i would be grateful :) ( I have 4 years experience as a business/functional analyst, but no experience yet with ERP implementations).

Thanks Eric for sharing this review on Odoo. As mentioned Odoo works perfectly for small and medium businesses as compared with other opensource ERP system. In my opinion Odoo is catching traction in the market because of it's ease of use and distributive module approach, unlike other Open Source ERP systems which are more of a monolithic approach (Do correct me if I am wrong here).

Odoo has another big advantage: it's developed in Python! If you plan to develop on your own, you'll easily find programmers much better than for Microsoft Dynamics or other ERPs where the developers must learn specific programming languages.

One of the things that drive our customers away from odoo cloud version is the fact that you can't stop Odoo customer service or literally anyone working at odoo with some "special" permissions to login to yourdatabase and see your data! In Sage Intacct, for example, you need to grant access to the customer service team if you need their help and that access can be given an expiry date so you won't forget to revoke it. I have asked Odoo many times to explain this dangerous shortcoming in their privacy policy, but they have so far refused to do so.

Dear Sir or Eric whatever you are comfortable with. I had a thorough look at Odoo ERP earlier and I honestly think that it's a good solution for any SMB organization if they are willing to think out of the box and literally move their backside to reach their goals . Any solution provider just like Odoo does, should offer their clients a free fully working solution to try things out and assess the suitabllity of the solution to their actual business needs. I would appreciate a future video from you Eric that looks at security aspects of open source ERP from a business perspective such as Odoo, and security in general. Keep up the good work young man and wish you all the best always.

Thanks Eric for this information. I have been recommended by my business development consultant about this product. We are about to launch a trucking business in South Africa; Headquarters will be in New York. Is there any other app to be added to this ERP that could be catered to customer satisfaction such as tracking their products when arriving at their destination; or automated constant communication with the customers to showcase our reliability? Check how many e-mails you can send via Odoo per day before you buy it. It's low, very low. We are small business and limited to 1200 e-mails a day - this is in total for all modules. Odoo need to address this. It won't work with AWS SES either.
@thedillydotcom
@thedillydotcom Жыл бұрын
All these CRM solutions providers always want to charge you per customer contact in their system which is total robbery. I can use SES or Sendgrid for ultra cheap communication, but I want the drip automation and list management stuff either at a flat cost or via a hosted cloud providers low cost that scales based on actual usage, not some tax I have to pay based on number of customers in a contact list. I'm looking at Odoo because the other open source options out there seem to have contact caps or pay per contact models in place as well, which is just awful. That 1200 email a day limit seems so arbitrary and completely unnecessary if they're not even the email sending platform. Were you looking at the self hosted platform or is this a limitation that can't be worked around in the software?
@kamranalisyed5553
@kamranalisyed5553 Жыл бұрын
As per my experience with Odoo (self hosted) there is no such limitation on emails. BTW, I am using Google G-Suite(Workspace) with Odoo. I believe any email service provider including sendgrid could be used to handle emails via SMTP/IMAP.
@stevemehew2888
@stevemehew2888 Жыл бұрын
@@kamranalisyed5553 If you choose the all-in-one package from Odoo, fully integrated, there is a daily limit for e-mails sent. We have this problem so we use an external e-mail marketing system and just use Odoo for helpdesk and sales. If you self host then there are a lot of other options open to you and Odoo is just one on the list, but then you need to manage all sorts of things you don't have to with Odoo hosted system.
