Some directors, once they get a take they are happy with, will shoot an extra take and allow the actors to improvise or experiment with the scene.

As for people who interested in directing, I cannot recommend you enough books "Sculpting in time" by Tarkovsky, "Bresson on Bresson" and "Notes on Cinematography" by Robert Bresson, Ingmar Bergman books as well, and in general, pay attention to the "Film d'auteur" theory and such.

i really love that bit with PTA. Id like to share i little nugget of knowledge ive been carrying all throughout my career: tell what you know. you can never go wrong with telling stories that you already know. nothing pretentious about it, its just you sharing what you know and what youve experienced.

I think a better way of saying things, would be thanking the video creator for bringing up talented directors... Doesn't matter their gender or race, all that matters is how good they are... Really strange comment you wrote. And it's funny, because, implicitly, your comment seems to put whatever their gendrr/race above their craft, their hard work, their talent. In the end, comments like yours are the ones that divide, rather than bring together. You are a participamt of the very own issue you wanna defend.
