lets see what that stainless prop can do mounted, i give it credit for being able to take two 39's but what about a 54r?i really just wanna see how tough stainless steel props are because i want one for my boat, cant afford it but i seem to be ok with an aluminum prop, shes banged up and might need replacing and we have straightened her back out and made sure shes as smooth as possible, for reference i got a bass boat and props for those are well over what he paid for his because they are much more complex and much larger. not sure how many non boaters watch this channel but boats can be pricy

@jeffconley6366 Жыл бұрын
Yes, stainless props will wear better than aluminum. And you proved that. The issue with Stainless vs Aluminum props. Is when you strike the leading surface of the prop at speed. Thats when it is a question of what breaks, the engine, key, longtail shaft or propeller. I always what it to be the key or propeller. Iv'e seen outboards break instead of propellers with stainless propellers. And in those cases the stainless props were deformed and had to be replaced as well. So that's why I use Aluminum propellers. And they are so much cheaper, I can afford to have multiples onboard in case one does break.

How do these motors work in wild rice creeks? Do they clog up like an outboard?

Don't know what wild rice creeks are, but no they do not clog up because the motors are air cooled not cooled with water. And the props are usually pretty good about not getting clogged with weeds.

I really want to see what .50 BMG will do to that thing. Jeez it is tough. In my opinion stainless steel props are worth the extra money. These things last forever. We still have the original stainless steel prop on our motor that we got 36 years ago. I could be wrong about that my dad had to replace the shaft because he bent it but I don’t think he got a new propeller for it. Even if he did they still last forever. I have and with the slower speeds these longtails get there is no difference in speed. Plus our prop sizes are generally much smaller than outboards and have a lot less pitch.

"...calm down, we're trying to destroy stuff." I don't know why, but that just struck me as funny. Too bad the camera was off when your Preditor went all angry dragon on you. That there would have been some premium footage. Your next video can be the Predator's post mortem. I'm sure I'm not the only person interested in what went wrong. I'm going out on the limb and suggesting a partially sheared flywheel key. This would be due to the shock pulses from the prop strikes transmitting up the shaft. The F/W key is the first weak link in the chain. The partially sheared F/W key changes ignition timing, causing the not starting problem. I'm guessing that something caused the starter to crank the motor over for an extended period of time. This caused a flooded condition. Eventually, the altered timing caused a backfire, igniting the excess fuel in the intake manifold. It has been observed, that when this series of events happens it can produce some odd noises. The most common noise, mysteriously, sounds very much like the squeal of a young human female. Anyways, so yeah, let's see a post mortem video. I'm impressed with your shaft collection. It's so manly. Probably too intimidating for *Scooter*. BTW; Noice pea shooter. Keep up the good work. Still enjoying your videos, butthurt snowflakes and all.
@SendItJonBoats3 жыл бұрын
I was crying laughing through half of your comment and going hmmm on the other half.... you made a very god point, I am certain it was flooding but I could not get the fuel to stay in the carb to save my life. That extra gas and a backfire it most likely what caused it to go up in flames. The pump worked fine, and when it allowed fuel to go into the carb it would run like a champ. It was almost like there was a giant air bubble keeping fuel from flowing into the carb... then I forced some gas in there and it would crank momentarily, then run out of gas again. I will surely be doing a post mortem video and see what we can salvage, and I got to order some go fast parts as well. Thanks for the laughs, love all of yall funny comments!

It would seem there's a scooter out there obsessed with shafts. Btw, if ya wanna chance to try and break a prop in a real world scenario, trying taking a run up the Appalachee river around Buckhead Ga with a loaded down boat. I was able to beat the heck out of one of mine when we went fishing up there last week. We put in at Swords and I started nailing logs and debris before we were even at the I-20 bridge, not to mention the logs our boat jumped over. I would recommend you use your shortest shafts though, it gets kinda tight and slick up in the river and the shorter shafts fits much better up there.
