Beautiful example! Based on your 4 different examples, it's a no brainer that policy review is paramount to policy performance. Clients put there trust in producers/ advisors for that specific purpose because it's there expertise. I do have a question though. What if there is no cash value in the policy and a client is just starting out with an IUL. Would you recommend starting out with option A, reviewing the policy several years down the line to make the neccesary adjustments and based on the cash value build switch to option B?

Nationwide is a Mutual COmpany, and INDEX accumulator is a great product, if structured correctly, and also if FUNDED correctly, they also pay you a 15% bonus starting year 15. Any policy you have can be modified thru time to make it more cost efficient, dropping the Death Benefit as shown in the AIG policy, can also be done in any IUL after year 2.

My question to you is what is the highest risk class you offer and how come you aren't showing at how much interest rate you are illustrating this at? Also why not compare apples to apples, one is minimum non mec(hopefully) other is over a million dollar policy, one is level the other is increasing? Lastly what benefits are in both, ltc disability critical illness etc and what is the 20 year look back performance or at least last 10 years on both? You can illustrate something better but when it comes to the real deal which averages more rate of return? Sounds more like a sale pitch to use you or your product then actual education.

Oophs...Bad Wrong. Your subsequent policies did NOT have the same Death Benefits...which you drastically REDUCED without saying anything. You say they are "the exact same policies" over and over...but they're not. Look at the last policy, you say designed correctly -- it has a beginning Death Benefit of $528,402...which is less than 1/2 the original policy. Also the "catch" at 5 and 10 yrs DO offer more income...but far less Death Benefit. NOW...the policy holder might like the added income over the greater DB...but that's NOT what you said. You just lowered the DB...sometime more than 1/2...and called it "the exact same policy". This does NOT mean your premise is wrong. I think you are likely right...proper design from the start IS important. But that is NOT what you illustrated. It would be interesting to see how the Original "bad designed" policy would perform for income...adjusting the death benefit as you did in the others???

I was introduced to IUL's a week or so ago and I am searching the web for information on them to educate myself. In your video you kept saying the right way and the wrong way. When watching thru the video the wrong way appeared to be the Death Benefit in #1 vs. the Death Benefit in #4. The Death Benefit in #2 was very much like the Death Benefit in #1, but the Death Benefit in #3 had dropped quite a bit. With all this said I guess I am asking if the right way has to do primarily with the Death Benefit? Another question would be that if someone got to a point of a premium and a Death Benefit pretty close to what the needed could they not compare apples to apples when shopping for a company?

No good agent should EVER recommend an early surrender that will lose 30+% of their surrender. You talk about getting your blood boiled with policies set up incorrectly - I'm with you. However I would never incur a huge surrender like that. That's bad advice. No illustration is set in stone. There are several ways to go about handing this client with his/her current company. Another thing is the interest rate being ran on the illustration. The AG49 limits could be different. Nationwide and AIG are both great companies but if you're not running them at the same interest rate, it is not apples to apples.

Hello Brandon, 1- You can design an IUL based on your particular needs, but also on your age and future needs, your Target Premium could be 5000 per year, but you still would or could have space to contribute up to 15k or 18k per year to fund as your income increases. 2-In reality talk about the best IUL is a punctul event in time, and it will also depend on your age, health, financial capabilities etc. Nationwide has one of the LOWEST NLG Premiums in the market, that allow you to drop your premiums but keet your coverage. I agree that setting the policies up correctly in the first place is the right thing. However, your "Replacement" recommendations are not the correct solution for this client. If you were really helping him "Fix" his account, you would not 1035 into a new policy, but fix the one he is already in. You can correct the "too big" death benefit by lowering the Nationwide DB and switching it to increasing. Then add a term to supplement the loss in coverage. The change that you made gave about $300k less in coverage from the beginning. The Nationwide when fixed would perform better than the AIG. I work with both companies so I am familiar with both and you can make the corrections. The real reason that the plan you created paid better at the end was the blend allowed you to drop the Life Insurance from over $1mil to just around $700k. Another loss in coverage from your recommendations. Problem with "fixing" a plan that is already in place is that you don't get paid the 1035 commission. Sorry.

You are simply using 1035 exchange to fool people . You are portraying a bad picture saying the AIG iul is the best. Do the maths from the begining by not using the 1035 exchange. see what you get with Nationwide and AIG.

This is a video focusing on policy design, not product differentiation. But I also did what you are asking for in option #3. Did you watch the full video? The point is that if you set up an IUL the right way, it can be the difference in hundreds of thousands of dollars!
