Just did the timing mod on my FZ6R. I didn’t realize they suggested higher octane. You think 91-93 would be fine to run in it? I don’t see why not if the compression is the same huh? Just want to delay ignition of the fuel a hair for peace of mind right?

That 90 I believe is just regular "No ethanol OG gas". Though I could be wrong too.
@HalfClickUp6 ай бұрын
@@zacharyl5123 that’s a fair point, but wouldn’t it be more expensive if it was ethanol free?
@zacharyl51236 ай бұрын
@@HalfClickUp If it's refined instate probably not. Texas has its own fuel refineries, so it should be cheaper in general if my memory serves. Here in Missouri the QT I go to has 90-91 non ethanol gas that's 50 cent to a dollar more. But again I'm going on the assumption here. Haha!

hey love the video. I am just curious what the frame sliders you are using are
@HalfClickUp5 ай бұрын
@@justjosh7076 they were the factory option back during production. They’re made by GYTR. If you ever wondered why there’s a little “scope reticle” looking mark molded into the insides of your fairings, that’s where you drill to mount these sliders.

Octanium adds about $2.50 per gallon, so that's cheaper, but you are still crazy for doing either one. I'd be shocked if the 4 degree advance needed anything other than just 93.

Well, save yourself some money this way: Keep a small spray bottle in your jacket and just spray some into your helmet before a ride. You'll get some evaporative cooking out of and smell it far more efficiently, if you remain conscious.

Been hearing people throwing not just fz6 cames but 2003 r6 cames into the fz6r. Is it even possible with such a low redline??
@HalfClickUp6 ай бұрын
@@MJT-DA I’m unaware of a successful R6 cam retrofit, but yes the FZ6 cam swap is achieved by altering the timing of the (I THINK) exhaust cam to 102 degrees or something similar. I’d have to do a lot of research and prep before undertaking that mod, but it would be the ultimate final power adder for the bike.

@@MJT-DA that’s the trick.. not sure if it can be hand-filed or if full on machining is required. There are a couple of informative threads about it on the FZ6R forum at 600cc.org which is where I’ll begin my research when I get ready for the mod.
