As the Engineer Taskforce Commander for construction of Maitri and First Station Commander of Maitri i sincerely hope Maitri 1 is retained as a historical monument. We are proud it is an entirely Indian designed ( DRDO) of materials made in India and erected by team of Indian Army( Engineers and EME) with the herculean efforts of the Mi8 helicopters of IAF and Chetak helicopters of IN. Fantastic medical cover by Maj Venkatachalam of Army Medical Corps who managed a patient who suffered two heart attacks in winter when evacuation not possible.

As the medical officer of the team under the illustrious and brilliant leadership of Col Jagannathan, I endorse the suggestion made by him. Maitri is the story of a very dedicated team comprising selfless and highly talented and trained men of Army, Navy and Airforce. This station is Indian in every sense of the word and spirit. Dr(LtCol) Venkatachalam, MD

As the Antarctic Ocean continues to bear witness to the relentless melting of its vast ice glaciers, a unique opportunity presents itself for India to emerge as a global leader in addressing the pressing issue of water scarcity. With many regions around the world grappling with diminishing freshwater reserves, the Antarctic's melting ice could prove to be a veritable lifeline, if harnessed strategically. Envisioning India as a formidable force in this endeavor, one can envision a monumental undertaking to transport the pristine, glacial waters from the Antarctic to nations grappling with water shortages. This audacious endeavor would not only alleviate the plight of water-stressed nations but also position India as a pioneer in the realm of sustainable water management. Moreover, the abundance of water obtained from this endeavor could prove invaluable in addressing India's own domestic needs, particularly in the realm of nuclear energy generation. The nuclear industry's insatiable thirst for water could be quenched by this untapped resource, propelling India's pursuit of clean and sustainable energy sources. Furthermore, the potential for harnessing this water for hydroelectric power generation cannot be overlooked. By leveraging the kinetic energy of these glacial waters, India could unlock a new frontier in renewable energy production, further solidifying its commitment to a greener future. However, for this ambitious vision to become a reality, meticulous planning and execution are paramount. India must harness its technological prowess, forge strategic international partnerships, and implement rigorous environmental safeguards to ensure the sustainable and responsible utilization of this precious resource. If executed with precision and foresight, this endeavor could indelibly etch India's name in the annals of history as a nation that not only addressed its own water woes but also extended a lifeline to a world grappling with the existential threat of water scarcity.

Why replacing? it should augment the facilities by new extensions and inter connectivity between each construction project. Something is really wrong with Indian senses.. this way, we retain history, and the infrastructure itself stands testimony to the history.
