@@AndyDandanFisherSteam that was not also the full route when in 18th century they made it . After Kurseong lines diverted into two . One part go to NJP railway station, and one to kishanganj ( bihar, state), Many in current don't know about it . Thus you could reach Darjeeling via njp or kishanganj, now only njp . That track is now out of order but some remains are still laid. When the track was first laid Darjeeling was not the last stoppage, there was another line from it which connects a district in Darjeeling only . But area become conjested and they the remove it too . But some remains can still be found. Train is smoking very high. Government can improve it, as it is a hill destination and it is a very sensitive area on the perspective of nature. So it seems government has left the Darjeeling railway system as it was in the days of British. So sad
@AndyDandanFisherSteam4 жыл бұрын
Steam locomotives are bad polluters, but most of what you can see in the smoke are the particulates which fall to the ground rapidly. The real damage is done by greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. These are given out in just as large a quantity by road vehicles, aircraft, ships and power stations. There are only a tiny number of steam locos left working and they are beautiful and fascinating machines. They are a valuable relic from our industrial past and need to be saved from destruction. The pollution from these few steam locos is TINY compared to the pollution from the billions of road vehicles, aircraft and ships in the world. Getting rid of just a handful of steam locomotives will make no difference to the world but getting rid of the pollution from road vehicles would probably sort the problem in one move. If you’d like to save our Earth from disaster, please get rid of your car or motor bike, don’t buy anything that has been delivered by air, sea or lorry, switch off your electricity at home, never go on holiday by aircraft or car. Not easy, is it? Andy

The actual reason for the smoke is there's a fire burning in the loco. A boiler, clean or dirty, can't make smoke.
@AndyDandanFisherSteam5 жыл бұрын
@@supafuckinmingster Black smoke only comes out of a loco exhaust when the fire isn't burning at full efficiency. This can happen immediately the fireman stokes the fire with cold coal or when the tubes through the boiler are not allowing a good draught. In this case the fireman was making black smoke for photographic effect by stoking the fire more than needed ..... Andy

This line is a major tourist attraction for the Darjeeling area and brings in valuable foreign money. However, I agree that steam locomotives are bad polluters. Most of what you can see in the smoke, though, are the particulates which fall to the ground rapidly. Andy

Do u know the sentiment it has with the people of the hill of Darjeeling? If you are so concerned about pollution, why do you start a campaign in the very place you live in... Okay.
