The whole "halal" issue has become more amd more absurd. There is no need to have so many product's "halal certified". This is a racket to enable products to be sold at higher rates. Once the practise of "Halal"was meant for meat & chicken just before they were slaughtered Now all of a sudden the practise of "halal certifying" all other products has started up. In fact This needed to "show" a certification certificate was completely absent. As it was not necessary. No one even thought of it. Now it appears it has become an essential component of a "food" item and people do buy them despite the financial hardship they may have to endure. All because they are too afraid to question the "new standards" their religious elders & Imams would have instructed them to follow. Just as the Jews do in western countries. There too once the only thing sold under the label of "kosher" was meat and chicken. Now suddenly in the last 15- 20 years even the wine they sell is sold with a "kosher" label. AND the Kosher products are quite a bit more expensive. What is going on? Are they not getting enough donations? Or do they feel they are losing control over their congregations? I get that initially it was to bless an animal who was about to die and I appreciated the custom - but now that they have extended the blessings to inanimate objects - I feel it has become a bit of a racket. So it is good you have brought this up.
