Third Rail technology. Basically there is a third railway track that is electrified, when the wheels touch that track, it generates electrical traction. That is why in metro stations, there is an explicit warning not to cross railway tracks directly to the other platform.

Any metro constructed for a population leas than 50 lakh people will fail to break even. If they really want it to work they should connect Agra Mathura seekri and bharathpur via this metro and then get rapid train to connect it with delhi. Then only this thing will work.
