How much of your electricity consumption is met with renewable energy?

Photovoltaic on the rooftop and the utility is Naturstrom. Would say close to 100%.

100 percent. Montreal in Canada has been getting all of its electricity from renewable sources for decades. I believe that it is the largest city in the world to achieve that, and at the same time has the lowest price for renewable energy in the world.

The good thing is that it's not a single plant, like a huge coal fired of nuclear power plant. Instead it's countless of wind turbines and solar collectors spread out over a pretty large area. Radicals won't be able to damage more than just miniscule fraction of the entire thing. So nothing's gonna happen because radicals always choose targets where they can make the biggest impact with their limited means, and this thing won't be it.

Average energy consumption per household in India is about 260 kwh per month that amount to 3160 kwh per year For 18 million households that will be 5.6 billion kwh or in electrical engineering term 5.6 GWh per year Now, energy availability for renewables that can be effectively used is 50% of their capacity as Indian grid is not as advanced to withstand power fluctuations so out of total installed capacity only around 15 GWh will be used & considering significant increase in consumption, grid losses that assessment is right Renewables like solar or wind has a big downside which is the force needed to produce energy is natural & can't always be available as & when demand surge so you need alternative power source to compensate These all factors are taken in consideration
@meerkathero6032
@meerkathero6032 6 ай бұрын
That sentence makes no sense at all: ..... out of total installed capacity only around 15 GWh will be used..... You are confusing power with energy. Next is the 50% you mention above, that makes no sense. What you mean, capacity factor? Well, the capacity factor is a useless indicator for wind and solar as it only expresses the wind energy potential and solar energy potential available at the certain location but does not say anything about the quality of the powerplant itself. Maybe you mean 50 % is the maximum evacuation capacity which the grid can handle? The HV power grid in India has a quite high availability and evacuation capacity, the mentioned 50% is just a fairytale far away from reality. Of course, the transmission grid is being expanded in the region to connect the power plant and to allow for transmission across the country to where the load is.

So the project occupies less than 1000 m². That desert area is about 200,000 m². That means there's plenty of room for much more energy generation. If I was India, I'd make it bigger.

Having a very big plant in a concentrated area is good but also there is loss in transmission of electricity from 1 place to other and Rajasthan's energy needs isn't this much means it will supply electricity to other states too so there could be losses

Nuclear plants need a lot of input cost also they are not easy to maintain also we would depend on other nations for uranium , there has been progress in thorium plants and hopefully they will have some plants with thorium based reactor but till then this is a good step towards renewable energy

I’m not complaining, I’m really not, but you have to be mistaken. Ain’t a chance that a renewables park the size of a country, visible from space, will only power 18,000,000 homes in a relatively impoverished (but on the come-up) place with over a billion people. That just can’t be right. The US as one of the most power consuming countries is already 1/4 fully renewable without anything like this, and less than 1% of that is rooftop solar. How could India be so absurdly energy hungry that a plant this size will only do enough for a piece of its energy demands?
@meerkathero6032
@meerkathero6032 6 ай бұрын
India is indeed very energy hungry. Last fiscal year the production across all power sectors was 1844 TWh. China, USA and India are the top 3 (electric) energy producers. Still, the Gujarat project is impressive and 18 million households are a very considerable number.

U are comparing a country with 300 million people with a country with 1.4 billion people.. look at per capita consumption and you will understand which country really is the culprit.
@Ravenxxo

Probably due to the relatively inefficient transmission technology, high maintenance costs apart from higher electrical grid losses due to hotter climatic conditions.
