The things he is saying is growth not development of the indigenous people. And you people should become responsible towards your own community first, know the issues and history of Assam's past , what the Assamese and indigenous communities want. All the communities first want to protect their own language and culture in North east india which is a diverse and unique reason. If you don't feel what the consequences might be then the best example is see the political and economic situation of tripuris in tripura which we won't let it happen in assam. And I become astonished when I see some typical people like you who don't see or feel anything about their community. What you need first? Your community, language, culture or big rivers and roads. It is unfortunate that many non-Assamese individuals, particularly those from communities such as Bihari, Bengali, Marwari, and Miya Bangladeshi, often lack an understanding of Assam’s rich cultural and historical significance. They tend to associate the region primarily with commerce and business, overlooking its profound heritage and contributions. Let me take this opportunity to highlight the true essence of Assam. Assam is an extraordinary state, celebrated for its deep-rooted history, diverse indigenous communities, and the harmonious coexistence of tribal, hill, and plains cultures. Its heritage is unparalleled, representing centuries of traditions, art, literature, and valor. The cultural wealth of Assam is truly remarkable, reflected in its vibrant festivals, mesmerizing music and dance forms, and exquisite craftsmanship, which embody the soul of its people. Unfortunately, due to years of neglect and underrepresentation, much of Assam's glorious history remains confined to old, forgotten texts. This negligence has hindered the world from fully appreciating Assam’s immense contributions to India’s cultural and historical fabric. It is imperative to bring Assam’s rich legacy into the spotlight, ensuring that the traditions, stories, and achievements of its indigenous and local communities are preserved, acknowledged, and celebrated on both national and global platforms. Assam is far more than just a land of economic potential-it is a cultural treasure that deserves the respect and recognition it truly deserves.

@samirankalita-qi8jc Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC) often receive more facilities and support from the government compared to the Other Backward Classes (OBC). However, as an Assamese indigenous Hindu belonging to a weaker, low-income group within the OBC category, I have firsthand knowledge of the ground realities. It is crucial to address the challenges faced by the OBC community and ensure equitable development and access to resources for all sections of society.

@samirankalita-qi8jcThe rising population in our state has intensified the challenges faced by the indigenous Assamese Hindu community, particularly those belonging to economically weaker sections. We urgently need increased reservation and focused developmental policies to uplift our community. Many indigenous Assamese Hindus are living in poverty and require immediate central attention to address their socio-economic challenges.

@@ilovemyassam2447 Indeed true, and the goverment must take steps for them. But now think about the general category Assameese, they are protecting their identity without the aid of reservation
@ilovemyassam244713 күн бұрын
@samirankalita-qi8jcThe caste-based reservation system in Assam has unique characteristics, but its dynamics are rapidly evolving. As an indigenous Assamese Hindu belonging to the OBC category, I have observed a significant disparity in how benefits are distributed. Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Scheduled Castes (SC) currently receive a larger share of facilities and benefits under the existing framework. This system seems heavily skewed in their favor, leaving the indigenous Assamese Hindu community, especially those from the OBC category, struggling to secure equitable access to opportunities and resources. While the introduction of the EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) certificate has provided an additional 10% reservation for economically weaker sections, the population of EWS groups is not as large as that of the OBC community. The competition within the OBC category in Assam is immense due to its substantial population. Consequently, the indigenous Assamese Hindu OBC population faces significant challenges in securing opportunities, despite their socio-economic struggles. To improve the overall standard of living and address this imbalance, the government must prioritize allocating funds and resources to local Assamese Hindu indigenous communities. A more equitable approach is necessary to address the needs of all marginalized groups, including the economically weaker and low-income segments of the indigenous Assamese population. This would ensure that development is inclusive and fairly distributed across all communities.

Merely just building roads and infrastructure is not enough. We have to preserve our forest, culture, biodiversity and most importantly the identity of Assamese people and also the various original tribes of Assam (Missing, Tiwa, Bodo, Rabha etc.) Assamese people nowadays lack integrity and unity among themselves as a result of which it is becoming easier for the outsiders to take our fields and market. It seems the Assamese people have forgetten the unparalleled contributions of our forefathers for this motherland. The caste system and politically divisive strategies have significantly contributed to the fragmentation and disunity among the Assamese population. Historically, Assam was a unified state akin to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. However, following its division, substantial development has remained elusive. As a result, many indigenous people continue to live in poverty, and even those who are educated and do not belong to Scheduled Castes (SC) or other marginalized groups find themselves in disadvantaged socio-economic conditions. The persistent political maneuvering, which has often prioritized division over unity, has hindered the equitable distribution of resources and development opportunities, further perpetuating inequality within the region. This is the Reality of Assam.😢Sad but Truth.

as a sindhi from assam and daughter of a CEO in guwahati I must say that assamese people also have to work hard and take control of the business industry. most people I have met have parents that work in companies, not many of them OWN companies. that is where assamese people have lacked and marvaris and sindhis have dominated (despite sindhis being a micro-minority here). as for biharis, they are in lesser numbers here and very rarely OWN companies. assamese people have to raise their standards and own more companies and generate more jobs or else outsiders will take up more of the top tiers of the job sector (which is already mostly dominated by outsiders). think capitalistically :) (not saying assamese people don't work hard, they're some of the most hardworking people I've met in all my life. obviously so because I have been born and raised here. proud to be an assamese-sindhi. joi aai axom ❤)

What about development in the industrial sector, in companies, or in organizations that can actually create jobs for the people of Assam? What about them? What does development mean for the middle class? Is it the highways? The bridges? Claiming to have internet connectivity all over Assam, in every corner, is still a dream in 2025. Even now, Assam ranks among the lowest positions in the list of developing states in our country.

"As we ponder the trajectory of our city's growth, let's ask ourselves: what does real development look like? Should we prioritize grand structures and flyovers, or focus on nurturing the very foundation of our existence - our land, our air, and our water? Guwahati, a city boasting 80% development, is a stark reminder that progress without prudence can be perilous. We can't breathe peacefully, and a brief rain shower turns our roads into rivers. Is this really the development we need? Shouldn't our first priority be to cultivate a thriving agricultural sector, ensuring food security and sustainability for our communities? By doing so, we'll not only safeguard our environment but also preserve the livelihoods of our farmers. Let's redefine development, shifting our focus from structural grandeur to grassroots growth. It's time to prioritize people over concrete, and harmony with nature over haphazard urbanization. The future of Guwahati depends on it. Will we choose a path that balances progress with preservation, or continue down a road that compromises our well-being and the planet's?"

Facts about assam.Education system is in its worst condition . Primary schools in villages have a single teacher only. People with more than 40 acres of land are getting Ration card and they sell their cultivated paddy crops to the retailers as well as the free rice at 30 per kg. And people with no land purchase the same rice at 35 and they are daily wages labourers. Lots more to say but that's all for today. Joy aai Axom 🙏

It's true that Assam is on its track to development but the irony is that we have a CM like HBS who is for sure one of the most corrupted CMs of Assam, a face of a CM but having a heart of a MAFIA. Accumulation of mountains of personal and family property. In one sense Assam is a private property of HBS and family.

The land area of Northeast India and Japan is quite similar. The people of Northeast India are incredibly talented, smart, and have the potential to reach the heights of Japan. The government needs to unite them as one for future development. Unity among the Seven Sisters is essential to ensure the safety and progress of the region. A united Northeast could even stand strong against Bangladesh on its own. It is also written in history that the Northeast successfully resisted the Mughals multiple times. I hope you recognize and understand the immense power and potential that the Northeast holds.

Everything aside, Mama is a genius. The economic development and infrastructure boost has never been this way prior to his regime. Hats off to him for that. But then again, Assam is being pushed towards societal intolerance, which may not be seen at a quick glance but only if you dig deeper. Mama is trying to please the central government by pushing forward their us vs. them ideologies and that's something I disgust. But again, Mama, you're a genius. If "End justifies all means" had a face, it'd look like you! P.S: We Assamese youth call him Mama.

The central government should allocate a larger share of funds and budget for Assam, as it serves as a crucial gateway to Southeast Asia and the gateway to the Seven Sisters. Investing in Assam’s development will not only uplift its people but also strengthen India’s strategic position in the region. First, it is essential to unite and uplift the impoverished communities, fostering sustainable growth and ensuring that the region becomes a hub of progress. This will ultimately be an investment in India’s future.

The time has indeed come to unite the Northeast for future projects in South East Asia. By fostering collaboration and unity among the Seven Sisters, the region can harness its potential for economic growth, trade, and strategic importance in East Asia. With its rich natural resources, cultural diversity, and skilled workforce, a united Northeast could play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the region, not just within India, but also in the broader East Asian economic and geopolitical landscape. The government and people need to work together to turn this vision into reality.

What Himanta is talking about is very Macro. No doubt he has gone out of the box to capture imaginative ideas about development but several micro issues which plagues the everyday populace is missing. Small things like a) good roads ( you will not find a road without potholes even for 10 metre..Yes 10 metre) b) absence of Traffic regulators and traffic lights even for the city of Guwahati c) extreme shabby work by PWD and GMC for pavements d) An unregulated and arbitrary APDCL e) the entire city has been broken due to water supply project which does not seem to have a deadline, leaking pipes leading to broken roads f) no proper sewage distribution system nor waste disposal system ,neither is waster water disposal treatment. Even construction of most of the flyovers are without any safety precautions for the public, we don't have a population control bill so the entire state is flooded with foreigners and at this rate of growth by them in 20 years time the entire ethnic population would get displaced. This is the ground reality. We surely need the development that the CM is talking about BUT then we also need to solve our micro issues. Not everything is about marketing. The cycle of life is beyond that.
