@Climate-change_is-real1 Amusing. No one is ignoring real or nominal gdp growth or exchange rates. It is a simple fact that as the pie grows, more opportunities, infrastructure and facilities become available for everyone in the economy. Anyone with a functioning brain would also know that we had a poverty rate of almost 90% in 1947 or how rubbish the socialist era was till 1991. What good is an exchange rate of 3 Rs for a dollar in 1947 if most people can't afford 3 meals a day or relies on imports for any kind of machinery. Ask your parents what the situation was in 1991 when the country was effectively bankrupt compared to today with 3 decades of economic growth. Quoting a great man like Taleb is meaningless if done in improper context. The former CEA specifically wrote a book on maintaining high economic growth for the next 25 years. Ask Singaporeans what 6 decades of growth does for everyday life or the Chinese on 4.5 decades or the Koreans for 5. Rhetoric does not change the reality of what economic growth does for day to day life. Its only good for making debate points in colleges and universities.

Thank you First post & Palki !Excellent interview, intense , focused and well coordinated ! Yes the states need to be accountable for the funds they request and their responsibility in wealth creation. Most of them use it for dispensing freebies and maintaining anti social elements to threaten supporters of other parties in their state. More jobs yes but low or inadequate salaries for today's youngsters is equally frustrating, especially when they have zero work life balance and terrible travel challenges, be it by road, train etc. That's why many are leaving the country at the first instance, dreaming of a cleaner environment and better work place.

I still remember one mark question in 3rd standard -- What is the population of India .. That was 1975 -- It was 70 crores then .. Today it is doubled .. How come ?. Why population control measures which were vibrant in 1960s. 1970s dwindled after 1980s.. What stopped government establishment to think Population will find its own balance .. Damage is done now .. Any improvement is sucked by this burgeoning population within days .. Generation of 50 crore jobs is also less .. CHAOS and CORRUPTION is the natural outcome which we are seeing now

Supply chain and logistics cost to be reduced lot. But every year increasing toll is not the way 3. Our dependency on China. Our trade imbalance is alarming 4. Cut down red tape in every govt department. Bring all services online and eliminate delay and corruption 5.Mandate our premier institutes to nation building. One idea for large scale employment in India: India has 7500 kilometers coastal line. Construct sea road (0.5 kilometer wide) along the coastal line. At some places, the sea is shallow up to 10 kilometers where the development can be extended. This will employ millions of people in construction, transportation, tourism, etc.

Entrepreneurs (whether a big corporate or a small factory or shop) create jobs. The problem is that corruption is the root cause of all problems. Even a hawker who has no option but to sell on the street is harassed by the police and municipalities. Even if all the middle class people were educated well, there will still be a lot of unemployment. Unless we create decent roads, and have a good ecosystem for entrepreneurs, we are doomed. Just big corporates are not enough for creating jobs. We need small scale industries. Majority of our politicians are also uneducated and we have IAS officers taking orders from uneducated people.

We have grown by 7% in last 10 years even at lower base and growing population base. 8% growth rate over 30 long years is too optimistic and very biased. India with it's young workforce with median age of 30 should try to grow by 10% in next 5-6 years and then the growth will taper off. By 2047, we'll most likely to grow below 5% Just imagine what's he's saying..china(at 17 Trn USD) is growing by 4.5%, US (at 28 Trm USD) is growing by 2% and this wise gentlemen is projecting 8% even after india crossing 20 Trn. Please do not compare indis with Japan. A friend of mine who worked in Japan long time back told me that average Japanese works for 18 hrs per day in the company. My own experience in india. I purchased a new TATA car. When I reached their workshop for first serving I noticed a sea of difference as compared my to HONDA CITY workshop. Very poorly maintained workshop at tata motors, quality of work and customer interaction etc was telling its own story. Simple mathematical models will not be good enough. I had requested for back side camera which was never implemented with promises 10 time but no work. We have 50% of population which is good for nothing and lot of them sit in Govt office only collecting bribes and doing nothing. I can write a book on it and what about social upheavals all around us.

I have lost hope on my country, it is extremely corrupt, nobody works honestly, u need to bribe to get something done, businesses and corporates exploit the common man making him work for more than 12 hrs at a minimum wage , today Satya Nadella and Sundar pichai are so successful because they left india, and that's why Indians abroad r so successful, nurses and doctors are also leaving India, law and order is the worst there is no place in this country to progress honestly.

@@SaraWindi who is denying one should not have opinions ? You didn't get our point. She has the habit of interpolation about issues which she has no idea, and thats where your politeness can't rescue your opinions. She is smart & intelligent i agree. But sometimes she just become devil's advocate. Knowingly & unknowingly. Let alone annoying/politeness doesn't define anything.
