India should rely neither on Russia nor on the US. For its national security India needs to develop its own defence capabilities.

And if china is going to occupy more of our land you and your ego are not going to help get it back! To become self sufficient we need to respect science and research, do you think it will happen when we are not even getting our kids to school we have so much social injustice going on. Even Saraswati will prefer the US!

@@Mryajurarora India needs Transfer of Technology for Jet Engines, which its gonna get by France and the US. If we try to develop a Jet Engine, it will take Decades which will be catastrophic! We need to pay some heavy price to the French and the US otherwise we'll be lagging behind. Thank the Gods we are self sufficient in missile tech.

Great episode Snehesh!! In future episodes do ask questions on American interests in BD and other divergences that we have with US, and mainly how we could use the diaspora to navigate through these tough questions and put our view via the Indian Lobby in DC. Eg. Our PoV in Bangladesh vs American state dept pushing radicals.

The most important thing for indian government is to serve the people inside india. Such as build more clean toilets, reduce rape crimes etc. From 2nd generation, dispora does not have feelings of their parents' origin.

She is right. GOI needs to build strong lobbying arm in the US, UK and Europe. The Chinese influence in the academia is very strong through Confucius Chair funded by China in pretty much every university of consequence who carefully build and propagate China leaning narratives in the academia and think tanks. These think tanks have real policy influences -e.g. every Republican government is heavily influenced by policy prescriptions coming from think tanks like Heritage Foundation. Today Pakistan does more lobbying in US than India does. We have to counter that. All said, US is our largest trading partner- perhaps one of the very few large economies with whom we have surplus. We need to protect it and grow and have preferred trading statuses. All of these take considerable investment and sustained effort across different administrations in USA and it should be India centric and not BJP/Modi focused.

Asha ji means well. So does, one imagines, Tellis ji. One imagines too that both have inherited a noblesse oblige attitude toward Bharat - they certainly display one, in a well meaning way. Before dismissing the brilliant Shri Jaishankar with a wave of the hand, one should ask specific questions to these people about what Bharat should have done about vaccines, or, whether we should have purchased the oil, and what was the offer from America on both occasions? There are more questions one could ask, but these come to mind immediately. As they say, sweeping details under the carpet is fine for dabblers, but serious thinkers worry about the details.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I think India if it plays it's cards well can play China against US too

She is not saying that. She is just saying we should use indian Americans to lobby USA to recognise pok as part of India! I think this is a great idea!

Biden did not move an inch on reforming legal immigration. That is something which could have helped the indian community here. I have very little hope from the republicans as well.

@@rajasekhar7951 yeah, when the world is investing in India we should invest in US whose try to do regime change around our neighbours, interfere in our election and do everthing to slow our progress and create anti-India narrative.🤣
