As a faculty in School of Natural Resources. Geography. Civil Engineering at University. Of Michigan, I had been involved in these studies for 30 years from 1970 onwards and used the technology of remote sensing for mapping and monitoring the environment. While some progress was made technologically, the solution lies in meeting the political challenges. as are being experienced now. Ultimately every major country will need to take care of itself and provide some assistance to others. Hence India should persuade the International body to provide whatever the rich countries are willing to fund readily, without commitment to reach the goal. The International body need to monitor the progress and review and revise the future contributions. We must make a start lest no progress is made and requirements may continue to explode and the problem may become irreversible! Let's move on and make a start.
