I am from Andaman, and I always heard about the ship sailing to mainland India but never ever i saw it. This is the first time I'm seeing the ship going to mainland India. It was so heart warming to see the moments of you all being together even as a strangers in a ship. And those waves were literally showing the essence of being a part of an island. @@zyphonwhite Hi, just wanna let you know that there is not that much cultural differences here in Andaman like Mainland India except for a fact that we people from different culture live here together thatswhy we are called "Mini India". Majority of the people here are Bengali followed by South Indians and some pre 1942 migrated people from other close regions together we live and share all the Indian Constitution rights. We pretty much function same as Mainland India except we don't have any chief minister rather we are governed by Lieutenant Governor we do have one MP representing our island. Andaman and nicobar islands is recently undergoing development, the touristy areas are getting recognition and attention. And as for your concern of getting guide you may consult from some reliable sources i dont have that much idea about that part as myself I'm a student and I just wish that someday you come and experience authentic nature by yourself.😊

@@Oye_Majnoo Indeed I'm lucky to be born here in Andaman. But that doesn't mean this place is literal heaven. All places are beautiful in some way. For a fact that this place was not a crime place earlier but with growing population our place is now watching a serious growth of crime rates against islanders. And as far as for nature this place is really beautiful and authentic. You can experience blue sandy beaches, mountains, forests. The city life here is not that busy as compared to Mainland India. For me although i live in place surrounded by nature i want to live somewhere in the countryside. See, we human beings are not satisfied with what we have. It's upto us how we see the world. If you really want to live here you are welcomed. I just wish all our dreams of living in our dreamplaces come true.💙

I grew up in Port Blair in late 90's and early 2000 and this brings back so many memories. I have travelled to both Chennai and Kolkata by ship. In those days flights were unaffordable for lower middle class and we used to wait for days to get tickets for the ship. Sometimes people would sleep in front of the shipping department to get tickets for general class. The trip to Kolkata takes 4-5 days since the ship has to wait for high tide to cross the route to Diamond Harbor. Since Chennai is open port, it takes only 2-3 days. I even took the ship to Chennai the day after 2004 Tsunami and there was a TV camera crew to take our pictures as we disembarked. Ship travel in open sea is not a pleasant experience in general and especially so during monsoons when the sea is very rough, you are sea sick most of the time and there is vomit all around you (esp if you are travelling in bunk). I used to enjoy the time when we were anchored in the Hoogly (no waves) and would eat to our fullest as kids.
