It's gaining in popularity because it uniquely combines defence techniques, dance, yoga and healing systems. various places in Kerala martial art is performed on stage you should see it's excellent . lots of people still think that martial art was invented in China . actually one Indian monk who brought Buddhism to China practiced kalaripayattu and he taught some of it's practice to his disciples in china .

Kerala is amazing but if u r a tourist especially foreign country, u have high chance of getting ripped off or swindle. Learning the language is quite useful and better off travelling in Kerala with any close native frnds, Apart from Kalari, mohiniyattam, kathakali -THEYYAM is one of the most unique artform especially if u wanna learn bout the local history n geography of our land, it's one of the best time to visit here. I was an NRI, I'm from Malabar region and even the small village I stay surprised me with it's amazing hidden places!!! Best thing is to visit here n travel with a keralite.
