There are many SFs in our system for various operations, as we know PARA, MARCOS AND GARUD, but apart from them there are COBRA Commandoes of CRPF for Anti Naxalite operations, then there is NSG we all know about, there are CISF Ninjas and also CISF Force One. Now SFF is not a special force but it was specially made to counter China in Tibet and mainly Tibetans are recruited in it. There are GHATAK commandoes of Army, BSF has its own unit specially designed for Creek areas of Gujrat they are nicknamed as CROCODILES, then ITBP in itself is a Specially trained police force for Himalyas and high altitude thus earning the name HIMVEERS. Indian Navy has a specialised Commando force named Marine Commandos mostly known as "Marcos". Indian Navy does not have any Marine Corps like the US Navy. There is difference between Indian Marine Commandos and US Marine Corps .

Marcos is the Flagship forces of India. From Under water demolition, desert warfare, jungle warfare, experience in valleys to mastering HAW in Siachen their training course includes everything India can provide. That is why they have the longest training duration. They receive exposure and joint exercises with very few that too with top guns like Seals.

Bro I am saying cause I have 2 cousins one is in 5 Raj rif and another is a marine commando itself in INS Kumbhir okk... he said when it comes to exposure in land than para sf are beast but similarly Marcos are owner of waterborne ops. Jaise Marcos ka deployment para sf ke taraf hota hai usi tarah para sf ko bhi diving course ke liye cochin jana hota hai yes they might be not as good as a Marcos in diving similarly Marcos bhi paratrooper school Agra mein aatein hai but they might be not as good freefaller like paras... Similarly when it comes to Airborne assault garuds master the side 😅😅😅😅😅😅sabki roles and duties different hai aur sabko eak dusre ke jagah bheja jatah hai exposure ke liye ❤❤❤❤ hope u like the reply ...and if you feel bad for my previous replies I APOLOGISE ......😢

Col Sir, why do they teach static line parachuting to the special forces. My understanding is static line helps in putting a large number of troops quickly in a small area which is ideal for the "Paras" jumping out from a relatively low level. Para-special forces / Marcos / Garuds only operate in small groups and they should be using only HAHO and HALO for insertion or slithering from helicopters ?

HAHO helps to sometimes land upto 50 kms from jump point. Helps the jump aircraft to stay within safe space and maintains secrecy of intentions.

SF toh thik hai par conventional forces me - we need an Indian Marine Corps at this point...Marcos doesn't have the mandate of a conventional Naval Infantry...5-8K personnel is good for a start...we need them as our power increases, our overseas interests, businesses and installations increase to protect them and carry out amphibious landings and force multiplication we need them! We have 54th Brigade in Army ,Sagar Prahari Bal of Navy, Coast Guard, BSF water wing ...moreover CRPF personnel, we can fetch men from these units and some already have Marine experience, so we can train men and develop the unit easily..and place them under joint command of Army , Air Force(because they'll have their own air wing with fighter jets), Navy initially , later could be given command to Navy completely or made an independent branch Suggest what can be added ...

Also need airborne brigade we are having 4,5,6 ,13 para as paratroopers, rest of them are special forces, we have paratroopers from ITBP but very less in number. We are lagging both in airborne units, marine infantry and space force.

Every special forces have Their very different working style. Comparing them and Their work would not be justified. But yes Para sf & marcos are more famous i think this is why people think Air force garud commandos are weak or not good which is wrong!

Why is it wrong? Garuds sit around airforce bases doing perimeter security, is this really the job of special forces? I know they have other tasks such as CSAR, calling in airstrikes but they have never conducted such ops in real life

@ you have a strong point but they all go through the same selection process and rigorous training. And then they all do their courses . Para sf and marcos gets more exposure in combats because garud established late or more of a people didn’t feel the importance of having a special force from air force. I respect all thats it

Them wearing the sf tag on their uniform dilutes the name of special forces. The UK for example have the raf regiment to guard airforce bases not commandos its a waste

That question of comparison of Special Forces shouldn't be asked again ever, as it is the stupid limbic/reptilian brain thing for common folks to draw some emotional satisfaction out of such comparison. Special Forces are Special Forces, and buddy-hood is the most special aspect of special forces for a reason that commoners cannot understand, in an era that cannot even make two person buddy-hood system of marriage work for a long time.
