I have seen Indian naval officers were dead against SSN's during all these years. They were more inclined to aircraft carriers and Diesel submarines. Now, they were blaming the govt. for it.... It is not fair.

Indian Naval forces are very competent and peace loving. Last time they destroyed one Nuclear Submarine ( just left top Door/ Cap open) , Recently a New Frigate ship sink in Dockyard. No ship no war 😂❤

It's absolutely bizarre to hear that the plan to build SSN's started way back in 2007- 2008 and it's only now that the CCS have approved the fund to build 2 SSN's. Who is to be held responsible for this delay?? The Bureaucratic red tape,lack of vision and priorities of our defence planners, babu's and political leaders. We simply cannot afford to lag behind in any critical technology when China is massively building it's naval forces. We need to infuse funds in all futuristic projects from now only so that we are not to be left behind.😊😊

Good Initiative by Our Govt. We are very much late to Build SSN/SSBN. We need Larger sized SSN/SSBN.. to accommodate more heavy missiles.

The good thing sbout nuclear powered subs is that they can remain underwater and undetected for up to 2 years. Unfortunately, the humans manning them can only be in them for a much shorter time. I wonder if India can, and should, build these as unmanned AI managed and controlled subs. That would vastly increase the effectiveness of this deterent.

When a project starts it considers future emerging technologies to be incorporated ( obsolescence issue) . And india has successfully developed 700 MW pressurized heavy water reactor and upgraded the earlier 220 MW PRESSURIZED reactor into a modular reactor which is a testament of indian nuclear technology. I don't understand if F - 16 , rafale is still state of the art after 50 and 30 years later and in every press conference indian media asks questions about the status of MMRC very promptly then how a future project like indian SSN will be obsolete when it will be completed? Consider Indian SSBN is already in place.

I dont agree with these respected officers because India already have build and building nuke subs with arihant series. Arihant being first, arighat becaoming much more improved and advanced than arihant and so on star 3,star 4. So majority of technology must have been master and major vendors sorted out. I think attack SSNs are very late but can be build within next 10 years. 2 being initial and follow on will be improved and much more advanced vessels.

Let's face it and call spade a spade .... The fact is we call ourselves the Vishwaguru but when it comes to critical technologies like building a portable nuclear reactor and other sophisticated technologies we just don't have the research talent ! .... My question is where is the talent which can build these submarines for us .... This is a brain drain and lack of R&D in our country that we are dealing with .... We are beggars when it comes to critical technologies .... Why shy away from saying that .... Truth hurts but we need to do something about our talent pool here .... We are good but we are not the best and the best will not happen till both govt. and private players develop the talent pool in this area and others otherwise the new technologies will keep on coming and all we will be doing is playing the catchup game .... It is a vicious cycle that we are continuously finding ourselves in ....

Why pray are you trying to keep China at bay? For the price of 1 submarine, tens of thousands can be lifted out of poverty. This expensive piece of equipment is never gonna see action against anyone for the next few decades until it retires. And I dont see Asean countries trying to counter China either.

Why aren't Indian Opposition Parties making this a big issue on a national scale? Anything related to defense, our opposition political parties show a deaf-attitude. Why so? Is this because strengthening India's Military would challenge China's hegemony in Asia? Is this what our opposition parties are afraid of? Current BJP = MAYBE they think spending on cutting-edge defense-tech is useless as "there won't be any war"? Pure "Gujju Model", they are only focussing on making money, not in defending the money you've made. So, many hiccups in Defense sector by this BJP Party. Yet, not a single opposition political party has raised voices about the decreasing fleet of Indian Airforce, Lower number of Submarines, Kaveri Engine slowed progress, DRDO Drones programme not being funded, MRFA & AMCA waiting for 1 decade to get proper approval.
