On 8th May, 2024, I have traveled to BHUTAN by road from INDIA which means I have traveled from Siliguri, West Bengal to Bhutan by a car.
I have crossed the borders- Jaigaon in India and then entered Phuentsholing, border in Bhutan where I have undergone the immigration process.
Our stay at Phuentsholing was at PARK HOTEL.
This Bhutan trip was for 6 nights and 7 days and I had booked it through the travel company called AD TOURS AND TRAVEL.
I booked the package for 29,900 INR per person that included smooth immigration process, permit, SDF, Guide, all transportation from pick up to drop, hotels, breakfast. Exclusions were lunch, dinner and entry fees.

Yes you can travel without agent. I will be uploading a video about this information too. You can get the permit on your own by applying here visit.doi.gov.bt/ Then you can contact a licensed guide and he can become your guide throughout your trip or you need to contact the immigration office for a guide. Best way is to contact the guide directly (I have few contacts, if you want let me know I can give you). Hotels you can book online from make my trip or goibibo. And car can be arranged by your guide.
