"Every five days a Dalit dies cleaning a sewer. We are asking human beings to clean toilets," said Suraj Yengde - India’s first Dalit Ph.D. holder from an African university in the nation's history. As long as reservations continue based on caste, the system will never change. If hundreds of years of oppression can be corrected by uncontinued reservations it will only have a negative impact. There are many poor people among the so called forward castes who have to sit at home or do the same jobs which an u educated fellow has to do irrespective of the caste he belongs to. If there's a Brahmin who has not done even his matriculate, no one will give him a collectors job. He will have to clean toilets or sweep. But if somebody is dreaming that reservations will give status they are mistaken. Even the rich dalits don't care a damn about the one in a village with no means. For example in Germany fleischer is a surname of a person who’s forefathers were butchers , Maler Is the surname for people who’s ancestors were painters, Müller is the surname of person who’s forefathers would gather garbage ( mull in German.).So I would request all to research a bit. The caste system, which is essentially Brahminism, is what has made India weak as compared to other countries. In U.P many Brahmins got the job of garbage pickers but and earned 15-16,000 monthly but reality is they never worked they paid 2-3,000 every month to some poor hungry Dalit for that work and they used to do work inspite of that Brahmin who bribed to get that job and was earning money without doing anything.
