I was there on the last day and that too post lunch. Thanks to my boss who had a pavilion terrace ticket did not want to go Coz match was heading to a draw. Border made an audacious declaration and I went there only to see Gavaskar scoring some record breaking century. As I was climbing up stairs and was getting the view of the ground I saw Sunny walking back out at 90". I decided to stay back as it was a pavilion ticket and the next 3 hours I was fortunate to witness history!!!!

I enjoy India vs Australia Tests more than any other site in World Cricket perhaps even a world cup final. I guess the most melodramatic series was 2001 Aussie tour of India (Calcullata & Chennai) &2008 India tour of Australia (Bucknorgate @ sydney & perrth). These guys have had some fantastic and intense test series since. I'd say drop those one'days and convert the 4-test series into a 5 test series. Players should also be allowed to go at each other like these old days. Would be so much fun!

If Shastri had won this game for India it would have been a booster for him and Indian cricket in coming years. Giving strike to Maninder was a blunder and he gave an opportunity to Australia. A foolish and coward decision at that point, something unexpected from a top order player.

I watched this match ball by ball as an 11 year old. Initially, we thought it was a draw, then came the word, 'tie.' It was difficult to believe. Today, I think Ravi should not have taken that single. He should have gone for a big one on the last ball, when he took the single, he had 3 balls to spare.

I believe that Shastri made the right decision; remember that hindsight is 20/20 vision. By taking it India was guaranteed that they could not lose. by not taking ii he could have out with any of the remaindering delivers available to him and India could have lost the match after coming so close to winning. The tatics by Australia to slow down the overate to make the batsmen bat in fading light is the spirit in which Australia play the game.

@HeySenthil Its not a coincidence that such mentality showed up again, against WI in the 3rd test.. when Ashwin pulled out similar feat, and ended up in no-win where you should have won......More often than not, such mentality will let you slip away matches you should have won.

Shastri should have scored 4 in 6 balls. Poor from him
