Indian school lunches are extremely diverse! During my school days, my mom used to pack generally paratha (Indian bread variety) and alu sabji (an Indian vegetable dish with potato as the main ingredient) along with biscuits! We also alternated between bread-omelette, french toasts, Maggi noodles, egg chowmein, egg paratha etc! It's very different in different regions! Also have to clarify that curry is not just one dish! We have numerous varieties of curries, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, each with their distinctive regional twist!

@faervas1234 Жыл бұрын
American don't have good memories of school lunches. That because even if India is larger the is an Idea of Indian food. You can go anywhere in India and find a similar style of food. The 5 spice mix and prep and it would translate in what you get in school. In the US What you get in school has very little to do with what you normally get at home. It's what you get outside of the home that is the common food culture Pizza burger fried chicken.... that collectively people will accept as a lunch. It's like getting street food as school lunches in other countries. If you are Latino you have rice, beans, and an entrée with salsa. You can't expect all the other ethnic groups to like that as your daily meal. This is why American lunches are so disliked because the district has to serve the same thing in all the schools on the same day with a narrow menus of foods the majority of the kids will eat. done it the least flavorful way.

Just for information in case needed. Curd or yogurt is a natural probiotic. Meaning it does the same work as yakult which is to help in digestion by containing or promoting growth of beneficial bacteria in body. Also if you have lactose intolerance then also you can take curd as it does not contain lactose, Becouse curd is formed after fermentation of milk by lactobacillus bacteria which converts lactose into lactic acid. There was also a salad bar with apple sauce, broccoli, carrots, peaches, pears, potato wedges, ranch cups.

Actually it’s very common for public schools to get flavored milk and mozerella sticks. I moved a lot and all of my schools had that as a requirement with meals. It might’ve just been your school to be honest..
@senzikal Жыл бұрын
@@dhvani221 I've been to 3 different schools and none of them had strawberry milk. They've all offered a choice between white and chocolate milk though. edit to add: there were multiple vending machines where you could buy whatever drink you wanted.
@wolfcub824 Жыл бұрын
Chocolate milk, regular milk, and whatevee that day's fruit juice were our options. You also had options of a overly processed chicken burger, taco salad (mystery meat slop), cardboard pizza, and what ever was that day's special. Or if your parents gave you cash you could buy a Domino's pizza slice. People complained about homemade lunches, when I would have rather had those. School lunch was majorly sketchy. Those other girls' lunches actually looked really good. I would have totally preferred them.
@redinteractions5689 Жыл бұрын
All the public schools I've been to in my entire life had like four flavours of milk and as for all of the stuff she described in the video, she wasn't talking about anyone else's experience, in fact, she literally said "in my experience", she wasn't talking about your specific school, obviously she's gonna compare everything to what she had in school.
@senzikal Жыл бұрын
@@redinteractions5689 I've never seen more than two offered. Anything else you had to buy from a vending machine. Sounds like you went to some huge public schools or something

As a Keralite (South Indian) i am so sad that no one is speaking about or introducing Kerala Sadhya(Veg meals) to them. It has 10 plus curries,dessert, snacks etc that makes use of all the taste pallette in our tongue, hence calling it a complete meal. I request the next item introduced to be Sadhya and may be Aria can introduce since she is also from Kerala❤ Apart from Sadhya we have other food items that are very famous. And i am proud to say we are famous for spices like cardomom, pepper and tea plantations that all of our dishes are wholesome and is flavourful..please try it❤❤

In my son's school for lunch they generally eat rice, dal (lentil) and vegetable as side dish. Sometimes accompanied by sweet. On occasion they eat vegetable fried rice / veg biriyani & ice cream. School avoids giving non-veg food like fish or chicken as there are many students whose families are completely vegetarian. However in government schools I heard it is mandatory to give egg at least one day and soyabeans.

I am from North India, 90's kid. We had normal roti sabji/curries or parathas or bread and jam or khichadi for school lunch. Whatever was cooked in home for everyone, we take that to school, nothing fancy, no fruits, no nuts like today's kids. Fruits we used to pluck and eat from people's farms while coming to home. 🤣🤣
