The trek itself isnt that difficult. But the descent down to Yamunotri is of another level. Walking on one foot wide ridges with 1000 meter + drops next to you. Unbelievable. Sadly a porter of another group fell down when i did this trek in june 2018. Its just a very dangerous descent for inexperienced trekkers. But its very, very beautiful and impressive.

A mountain pass is a crossing between two mountains, kind of like a Path. A taal is a lake and a Kund is a Pond.

Is it preferably possible in the end of July?
@Indiahikes2 жыл бұрын
Hi Abhishek, We don’t organise the Bali Pass in July. July-August is peak monsoon season in Uttarakhand. Heavy rainfalls make the trail dangerous for trekkers. The best time to do the Bali Pass trek would be in the summer- May and June. The gradual transition of the trail from snow to greenery is something to behold. Another good time to do the Bali Pass trek is in the post-monsoon and Autumn season - September to October. The trail is lush green in September, fresh from the monsoon outpour. You can get a better understanding of what Bali Pass is like through the seasons here- indiahikes.com/bali-pass-ruinsara-tal

What will be the precaution one should take to reach Bali pass. What are the necessary equipments required for woman trekkers for this Bali pass trek?
@ashok44643 жыл бұрын
We carried ice axe and ropes and they were useful in two difficult sections. You don't need any special equipments, only the normal stuff for any high altitude trek, like good trek shoes,down jackets UV protection etc. Fitness and good health are most important .

Not likely. You do see some snow patches because it is a permafrost zone. But there won't be as much snow as in June.

Hi Anubhav. We don’t suggest you do Bali Pass trek as a DIY Trek as it is a very difficult trek and needs professional guidance. In case you plan to do this with us, here is the full itinerary for this trek: indiahikes.com/bali-pass-ruinsara-tal

You will enjoy it better if you have some more experience. But it also depends on how fit you can get, and whether you can meet the fitness criteria. You'll find more details about it here - indiahikes.com/bali-pass-ruinsara-tal/

@Indiahikes2 жыл бұрын
We understand your friend has done the Bali Pass Trek and found it comfortable. This probably means he is very fit and strong for a first time trekker. We assign trek difficulty based on many factors. You can have a look at it here : indiahikes.com/blog/difficulty-ratings-mean As a safety protocol, we require our trekkers to be very fit for the trek and have prior high altitude trek experience. This helps the trekking team in a big way to have a good trek.

Even though the best time to do this trek is June and September, I would like to know if it is doable in March. I'm confused whether the snow will be too less that the climb will become rocky or too much that the snow layer would be very deep to walk into. Also, I understand that the temperature levels would go down a lot more than that in June, but still, if anyone has done it in march and share their experience...

Kashmir is not known for such high altitude treks, it is known for huge meadows, skiing and beautiful lakes. Uttarakhand is best for such treks because it's a home to some of highest mountains in the world. In India, most highest peaks are in this region. Himalayas are spread in 11 states and 2 union territory and 5 out of 10 highest peaks in India are in uttrakhand alone. So, that's way !
