This is a re-upload with a correction from my previous draft. Thanks to user @SmoothbassmanStudios for the help!!
I go over some of the reasons why I chose to replace my old challenger with another challenger, rather than the new pursuit, even though the pursuit seems like a "good deal," which it definitely is depending on your needs. Maybe you'll have similar reasons, so listen to mine, it may help you decide!

I have a 17 chieftain limited. I turned it into a Roadmaster, I love having the heated seat. In Pennsylvania it extends the riding season. The trunk is super handy and I don’t notice the weight much at all. I didn’t think I would like the lowers in Pennsylvania summers, but with the vent open they do a great job of channeling the heat away from my legs.

omg dude, the white icon is what sold me and you called it ugly. I had a 17 RM and a 20 Challenger LTD, traded both and ordered a Pursuit on day one of launch when I saw the computer image of the white dark horse icon. The pic doesn't do it justice, brother. Guess that's why they have options though, to each his own!

Yeah, seeing it in person it's actually much nicer. I know someone with the white one. I originally wanted the white smoke challenger back in 21, but they simply couldn't deliver.

For a relatively new rider…2021 who only has Harley’s, this helps to understand the differences in this part of the ecosystem. I was honored to ride Brian Klock’s Jack Danial’s Road Master to Mt. Rushmore this year. I was overwhelmed with the size and cockpit. I think if I were to trade-in Killmonger (2020 Fat Boy) I would be looking at a Dark Horse Challenger. I like the power to weight ratio of the Scout but at 6’1” it’s like Killmonger…a little cramped. Thanks for the video. I agree with you, those lowers look like an add on. Why they didn't design them to fit up to the upper fairing with a seamless flowing line surprises me 🇦🇺
@DarkHorseParatrooper

Yes. Though, part of the reason is simply leg protection, but they just don't look good in my opinion. And honestly, I've probably been hit by rocks or whatever in the leg maybe a handful of times in the last 9 years... my old ones had ZERO rock chips, so they're just glorified wind protectors at that point.

@@DarkHorseParatrooper hey man, I put a down payment on the Pursuit but Im glad I ran across your video. I want the smart lean technology but also the electronic suspension as what Ive read has been awesome. I missed the fact that I the darkhorse pursuit didn't include it and it was only part of the prem package. I agree about the lowers and Id actually use the tour pack maybe 5 percent of the time. Im calling the dealer today, thanks again

And u get control of the suspension u get 200watt stero get leg faring’s with lights. Heated seat warms u up. So u get a ton for the money
@DarkHorseParatrooper
@DarkHorseParatrooper 2 жыл бұрын
While you do get "200 watts" it don't come with powerband. It has the crappy speakers, they sound terrible compared to the upgraded ones. It's only a great deal if you want all that stuff on the bike all the time. And electronic suspension? That only comes on PREMIUM MODELS, as does the heated seat. And you are in fact paying dollar for dollar those ad ons with the premium package, so it's not actually a deal.

I use heated grips and heated seat year 'round. We have chilly nights and mornings. Electronic suspension on the rear shock moves the Pursuit closer to BMW K1600 and Honda Goldwing Tour.

I have everything except the trunk on my Challenger. I have the hard lowers, Including the lights. Right now I am experiencing the joy of everything being out of stock and having to purchase 3 separate items to get something. I ordered passenger floorboards and the mounts only to find it needed the actual kit that was out of stock. They sold me the rubber part with the Indian logo on it. Not the tray that holds them and attaches to the bracket. And yes, I have the ‘20 so I get all of the electrical issues. I love my Challenger but am so frustrated with Indian and their business practices I’m actually considering going back to HD. Just to get support and the ability to add accessories. It makes me sad, but Indian is earning every bit of my anger.

I hear you! I'm a bit frustrated with the part and accessory availability from Indian as well. Some of the dealerships are really odd as well. I was in one the other day that was full of CanAm Spyders. Why Polaris would allow that is beyond me.

I wanted to get the Pursuit. But now I’am wondering would it be worth it 🤔. My whole reasoning for it is because my mom lives in Texas, and I live in Florida. It’s the trunk for me. That was the only reason for getting one. I’d take it off when I don’t need it. Which is probably most of the time. It would have been a nice ride out there. At the same time, would I really ride out there a lot🤔……………probably not 🤷🏽‍♂️. So I’d most likely stick to the Challenger. Black is my favorite color, so that color I’d go with for sure. And I DEFINITELY wouldn’t need seat warmers here in Florida 😂.
@DarkHorseParatrooper

Exactly one of the main reasons I'm not interested in the pursuit. The trunk is more inconvenient to remove from that bike.

I'll tell you why a 116 air cooled engine will be worth bank over time enthusiast won't let them die. The newer water cooled pursuit will not be as valuable for purists. In 30 yrs you'll see a guy like Mike on American pickers walk right past a pursuit to save a 116 chieftain

Thanks for this. Does the roadmaster rear trunk come off easily ?
@DarkHorseParatrooper
@DarkHorseParatrooper 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Much easier than the Challenger in fact. The standard heated roadmaster seat (don't know about dark horse models) has a little flap to tuck the cable into, simply detach and tuck. The Challenger you gotta take the seat off to store the cable, which is a headache cause it has a second plug under the seat with very little slack.

@DarkHorseParatrooper
@DarkHorseParatrooper Жыл бұрын
Except... it's not really a couple k more. It's about 5.5k more, a 17 percent increase. Big difference in features between a dark horse challenger and the base pursuit. Gotta go with the premium for all the real goodies like the six axis, electronic shock, and other parts to make it worthwhile. You could buy a base challenger, and kit it out cheaper than the pursuit base. I don't know anything though, I'm just an Indian tech and definitely don't own one or know anything about these.
