Last year we spent time at Priest Lake and hired a fishing guide who fished this lake for years. He said he really doesn't fish there any more because the fishing has been ruined by the fish and game, he was right. I was there 20 years ago, we caught lots of fish, but not anymore.

It's been 3 or 4 year's since I was at Spirit Lake but isn't it mostly boat access and 1 fishing dock? I don't remember much room for bank fishing

Correct. Limited shore and dock fishing...mostly by boat.

Nope. Most of the 400 state leases have converted to private property in the last six plus years. There is also a fair amount of fee property on the West side, Kalispell Bay and north in addition to other fee properties in the Diamond Lake addition and the Huckleberry Bay development. That said about half of the shoreline is undeveloped public lands, state and federal. Federal leaseholds on the west side of the lake remain as 20 year renewable leases.
