NEW DELHI: If India has to meet its target of notching up defence exports worth ₹35,000 crore by 2025, ramping up domestic production will be a critical requirement. Efforts have already begun in the right direction, the government has created an enabling ecosystem and the three services are giving more and more weightage to Indian defence manufacturers. Speaking at the India Defence Conclave 2022 hosted by Bharat Shakti, the Army, Navy and Air Force spoke in detail about how the journey towards achieving Atmanirbharta in defence procurement is progressing and why they believe the future is promising. Bharat Shakti and StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale spoke to a special panel comprising Deputy Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen. Shantanu Dayal, Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral SN Ghormade and Deputy Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal N Tiwari.

Nitin Gokhale and Stratnews deserves the highest praise for creating very high standards of reportage and bringing the common people uptodate on Defence and Strategic affairs. The Defence forces and the top echelons of the armed forces should be very heartily congratulated for being so supportive , understanding and technically uptodate. They are making the dream of antmanirbharta come alive. The quality of the debate here was high quality and to the point. We common Indians owe you all a debt of gratitude. All the very best and God speed. It is time the world sits up and take note. Lastly we salute the political leadership provided by the GOI led by the PM. Gone are the days of rut and rot. Let's feel proud about that.

Excellent discussion. Main stream media hardly cover such event. It is really need of time that India should become self-sufficient self reliant in defence equipments especially complex systems like next Gen helicopter engine, Jet engine Tank engine etc

Perfect initiative… in next decade it would create big miracles for Indian economy … by the blessing of Sri Ram ji, Indian defense exports would be 30% share, creating millions of jobs, taxes and avenues of growth with lead to investment in R&D and positive circle of investment, invention, innovation and mass production for Indian and exports defense needs.

A good beginning for Aatmanirbhar has been achieved by defence sector, mainly by stopping unnecessary imports & kickbacks. This is a continuous process which requires lot of research behind it to modify & thereby produce latest versions of defence equipments in a cost effective manner. Our achievements so far in quite impressive but we have to maintain the momentum.

Surprised and very happy to know that more than 80 % spares of important complex defence systems are being manufactured in India and the trio are looking to make it 100 % in nearest future. Very good contribution by Nitin for making hon. PM's dream of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat ', a reality. ..a good lesson for the mainstream media.

Even after 75 years of independence ,india still import 70% of its weapons . Importing weapons require long procedure and time consuming.. The costs of imported weapons keep increasing and with limited budget only a few can be acquired . Many of new indian weapons still in prototypes, or planning stage but better late than nothing. India still dont have its locally produced drones, anti tank ,anti jet missiles which are widely used by ukraine against russian army. India has a long way to go to achieve its 100% local production..

Hello Nitin Sir, I listen to your all videos. I have a concern. Is there a possibility of Chinese government to replan their strategy after listening to your videos? I mean from defence secret point of view is it unsafe? I know may be this is a foolish question to ask. But still. I am Satindra Chakrabarti in Canada.

Mr Dayal don't teach industry how to do business. Try to focus on your job. Example you gave about German companies being successful is because their army supports them and is the only reason they are sustainable, Germany army didn't go for Abrams They chose their own leopards and improved them gradually which your army is unable to understand. Basically Indian forces have an approach for indigenous procurement the same as Indian people when they buy from street vendors.

Like a boy looking for the most beautiful girl lands up unmarried, Will the ‘evaluation’ of the MRFA aircraft and Project 75I submarine ever reach a conclusion. Remove IAS babus from the decision loop and the decision will come faster. Indian bureaucrats are experts at ‘How not to take a decision’
